This has to be one of the best traditions in college basketball:

Quote:ESPN
@espn
At the annual Silent Night Game at Taylor University, the crowd doesn't cheer until the 10th point is scored.

And then ... pandemonium.

His .727 winning percentage as a member of the former (and greater) Big East is a fluke? That said, he's turned around TCU if you haven't paid attention. My point is, I don't think Pitt's recent fall from grace is no coincidence.

I don't think it coincidence, that Ben Howland had back-to-back Sweet Sixteens with a 29-6, a 28-5; which were immediately followed by a Dixon Sweet Sixteen off a 31-5 season. Nor do I think it coincidence that Dixon road the success for a time and managed to do well immediately after. Of course, I also don't think it's a coincidence that Dixon's had poorer performances both in the regular season and the post season during the last seven years of his tenure; years which included a 165-78 record, CBI, NIT, and one season with no tourney whatsoever-appearances, culminating in him being canned. It was a downward trajectory, if you look at his resume in two parts instead of just one.

The guy is a good coach. Outside of the blue blood programs everyone has a peak runs and a downturn or two. Moving from the Big East to the ACC hurt as Pitt was one of the flagship brand in the 16 team Big East. They became just another school in the Duke and UNC league.

I think the conference transition was a big factor in Pitt BB decline. When Pitt was successful they had a lot of big dudes underneath who played a physical brand of basketball. That style of play is not tolerated by ACC officiating- especially when you are playing the Tobacco Rd schools. They haven’t been able to get the recruits to play the ACC style of play

I don't think he's a bad coach, but after 7 years in a row of decline at Pitt, I really can't the fault the university for making the decision to move on. I think he did as much good as he could there.His last 5 especially though, 112 and 63 isn't anything to write home about.

UCLA up 6 second half at Michigan. Will probably jump back into the Top 25 with a win.

Wisconsin is down 15 to Marquette. Would be Wisconsin's SEVENTH loss of the season already.

Duke down 2 late to BC.

I believe they're on the list of teams with us with long tournament streaks. That list is going down one this year

VCU is on that list as well. They're 5-4 and play Seton Hall before the UC-Florida game in New Jersey today. They need that one as the A-10 is down this year.

Duke loses to BC

Kinda makes the people who thought losing in the Cintas Center was the end of the world look silly

Plus Duke has a lot more "working capital" to absorb an occasional upset than UC.
