Cronin is 3-8 against Xavier since beating them his first year.
He's acted a fool during and after some of those losses.
Combined with all the early NCAA exits, will this ultimately be his undoing?
In other words, would Cincy ever tire of the Mick Cronin show, want more for itself, and make a change?

Mick's a real badazz. Used to steal Pastner's lunch money.

Love the guy. I hope he coaches until retirement right there. Or at least long enough to even up that crosstown stat.
The guy can recruit. The guy can coach. He has his guys backs and he runs a clean program. He doesn’t recruit convicts. He talks up the AAC.
And to top it off he’s great entertainment.

Yeah... Ummm... Mick won't ever "even up" that Crosstown Shootout record. Xavier and Chris Mack owns him.

Yeah...the only way that happens is if the Sister Mary stuff actually makes it public and everyone cuts town. He'll never even up the series against Mack...dude has had his number since they were in Parish school.

Mick's first few years were a mulligan. He inherited a program with 1 scholly player and 0 recruits. Programs recruit 3 years out. Hopefully this will be 8 straight tourney appearances. Only Kansas, Duke, MSU, Whisky, Gonzaga, have more. It is difficult to make the tourney every year, let along consistently advance....very few programs advance past the 16 every year.

Maybe I have selective memory, but did he have another incident at the shootout besides this one?
And Mick is a long way off from going anywhere. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of grumbling about the first weekend tourney exits, but it's not like the guy is constantly getting upset with higher seeds. And most see the recruiting getting better and better.
As far as the shootout goes, everyone else is right. Mack seemingly has the better strategy every time. X is basically in Mick's head at this point.

Barring some sort of scandal, Mick has a job here as long as he is wants it. His teams make the tournament each year and he is from Cincinnati (in this town, that goes a long way.

Mick mugs Tubby, also ( http://gotigersgo.com/news/2017/2/23/men...ati.aspx). We will very likely lose by a greater margin this year.
One day perhaps we will have a tough minded coach willing to do anything within the law and rules to win.

-About a 1/3 of our fan base loves him, think he is a HOF coach.
-Another 1/3 accepts him for who he is, flaws and all. Certain forces dictate we can't hire anyone significantly better.
- The other 1/3 have never liked him.

That is the 1/3 who still dream that Bob Huggins is coming back, and pretend he had a upstanding program while he was here...

Agree there is a lunatic fringe in that bottom third, just as there are a group of crazies in that top 1/3 that feel obligated each year to throw out comparisons to a young Jim Boeheim as if his career arc will wind up the same.
If we are being truthful, both of those fringes are bigger fans of the coach than of the school.

RE: Cronin
I liked Mick, but he's wearing thin on me. That little stunt with UNLV was a major deal, IMO. I had no problem with him coming back from UNLV, but I sure hope the University didn't pay for his plane ticket (UNLV had flown him out there on a private charter and when the deal fell apart, they told him to get his own self home...) and the next time he goes out interviewing, I hope he's got his office ready to move. His repeated failures to win against Xavier are an increasing issue and it's only exacerbated by his downplaying of the series (Mick claims this game is "nothing special") and now his outburst against JP Macura.
FWIW, I will note that if he had pulled a "Norman Dale" and hit Macura, we'd not be having this conversation. Mick would have been arrested and fired before the sun had set. So he's rather fortunate that the Xavier coaches "restrained" him because if Macura had called his bluff this whole thread would be moot. Which means that either Mick was prepared to throw away his career or he was merely being an ass and picking a fight that he knew would never happen.
I will also note that in the last couple of days, I have pondered what it means that it was the XAVIER coaching staff that corralled Mick (not Macura... they restrained Mick) and not his own staff. Personally, I think they should have let Mick go and see what would have happened. Barring that, it was the Xavier Police that should have...escorted...Mick off the premises. But Mick's own staff didn't seem all that interested in either protecting their boss or getting him off the floor. Usually when a confrontation happens, it's your own people who pull you away.
It's curious.
