Not sure where I saw it this morning while surfing the internet, but the tax man is sniffing around for revenue, which now means college/athletics - deductions for ticket purchases and stadium construction.

RE: Nippert Defilement - Saw it Tonight
So it appears they are down to three contestants for the first row chairs...Sacramento, Nashville and Cincinnati.

Nashville was originally considered bottom of the pack with little chance for the driest two slots. Yet they are progressive city and now have hockey and have paved way for stadium with public funding. They probably have passed Cincinnati.

Cranley can talk all he wants about Amazon hq2 but this city has shown it can’t compete with more up and coming cities.

Portune and his silly folly talk also has his head buried in the sand. Dude thinks MLS is bluffing re stadium and wants to use PBS. Go have a seat with Detroit who just tried the same ploy and did not make the final cut this round.

It’s a shame that one of the most vibrant up and coming soccer fan bases will be stuck in the USL with less than major cities like Louisville, Charleston, Bethlehem PA, etc.

I now hope that fC Cincinnati makes deal with Newport and somehow manages to upset Nashville and cranley et al can look across the river at the new stadium and development.

It’s like in the 1800s when this city scoffed at trains and was passed by other cities who had vision. How are the steamboats working?

If the Newport taxpayers want to pay for it, let them. Bout time they get to share in the buggering by billionaires.

RE: Nippert Defilement - Saw it Tonight
Disclaimer: Never played soccer. My kids are above average players. I've developed an appreciation for the sport, but

1) USA Youth Soccer is a joke. Mainly for affluent white kids with over bearing affluent parents having unrealistic expectations/opinions of their kids ability.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blo...d-football

2) MLS Business Model is unsustainable. It's a Ponzi scheme that is running out of new people to join. The Columbus Crew pays $75k a year in rent! $75k with NO taxes. How is FC Cincinnati going to deal with $150 million debt???

https://deadspin.com/is-mls-a-ponzi-scheme-1797509617

3) MLS Stadium requirement is a joke. In 2016, the three teams that led the league in attendance played in football stadia. For 17 home games, the average home attendance is 21,600. For all the kids playing soccer, not many go to games - or watch games on tv. I live in Dayton and attend many (free) UD soccer games at Baujan Field. Fantastic venue to watch a game.

http://daytonflyers.com/sports/2013/8/28...spx?id=408

4) I don't think you will get the same fan base with higher ticket prices and the lack of charm that hosting the games in Clifton provides.

It was said that this is unfortunately just a mockup and isn't the official new jersey for next season. Though, I bet the new one won't be far off from this. I'm betting they do a new kit reveal before December 14th.

Because building the right transportation infrastructure is like funding a soccer team's stadium? Come on, man. It's obscene that these guys want the public to pay for their stadium.

#1- I would agree with your point if you replaced "suburban" with "affluent white". Most Youth Soccer is being played in the burbs by people of all races and ethnicities-- white, black, brown, yellow, etc. Its probably more diverse than baseball ever was in this country seeing the number of participants of Asian, Hispanic and Middle Eastern origin.

With respect to "affluent", I can tell you that most of the parents I have coached in youth soccer are what would fall into middle class-- and I live in a nicer part of Greater Cincinnati.

#4- I agree with your point about the charm of Nippert and I have my doubt it can be repeated in Newport, Oakley, etc.

The uniforms are contingent on FCC getting invited to MLS. FCC will stick with Toyota as long as they play in USL.

Damn...I like the individuality of that jersey, and I feel like it actually kind of represents the German/Bavarian background of the area with that pattern as weird as that sounds.

So Mercy Health gets a free ride on the FCC publicity train if the MLS invite doesn't happen? Pretty crafty marketing on their part if that's the case.

I think there is some confusion here. Yes, we are getting new jerseys next season, and I would not be surprised at all if they included diamonds. FCC has been incorporating Diamonds into a lot of their social media and promotional material. I like it for the same reasons you do too. That exact design and jersey template isn't the one for next season though, it's just a placeholder for the sponsorship announcement.

That's where Cliftons comment comes in. The Mercy Health deal is what is contingent on MLS. The Mercy Health deal would give FCC one of the top two or three sponsorship deals in MLS, but Mercy only wants on board if MLS happens, or at least the size of the deal will vary on MLS inclusion. That's my understanding at least.

Think that was probably the intent. Reminds me of the Bavarian flag for sure.

Cincinnati is Munchen's sister city after all. 04-cheers

According to ESPN, the terms are reportedly $5M/year over 10 years. So double what our whole University is getting from our media rights 03-lmfao. #4 highest Shirt sponsorship deal in the MLS. Also, Nike just confirmed that FC Cincinnati is the 3rd highest selling soccer merchandise in the US by rate of inventory.

Apparently FCC is making an announcement now about the stadium/MLS. You can live stream it here.

Wow...100% private stadium financing and city support for infrastructure. County is the only one holding out, and visitor occupancy tax pool is the target to aid payment for infrastructure updates. Berding/Lindner are going after the County's jugular for infrastructure updates, which is a pittance compared to the $300M FCC are footing.

Berding also just said that they have everything cleared on the Newport site...this is a play at Portune, basically putting it at his feet.

I think Portune and the county are meeting tomorrow, no? So we should have an official stadium site by tomorrow I would think.
