I saw the picture of the lady and thought she was black or asian. I haven't seen a photo of the shooter yet. It could also be something as simple and tragic as a disgruntled former employee of some Vegas casino who wanted to get back at his ex-employer or the tourism industry in general. Whatever the reason, it's a tragic event. It certainly doesn't fit any logical connections of other terrorism events in the past. Yet.

BTW Hburg originally theorized it was Antifa and my initial response was to him.

Just saw this on a reddit link. If Stephen Paddock was the shooter, apparently he had an issue in the past with a different casino.

Why would that matter. It is reported that his weapon was an automatic weapon. Most bullets for automatics break the sound barrier and a suppressor would not help reduce the weapons report.

I have a hard time buying the disgruntled employee theory. A disgruntled employee does not shoot people at a concert, they shoot up the place of previous employment. Not saying it is Antifa, but just strange the media does not call this a terrorist act.

Media has been calling this an automatic weapon all day long. They're either still ignorant on guns, or this guy used an illegal gun. Listening to the video, the shots do ring out pretty quick, but it could still be trigger pull speed.

Time to wait on the facts. At this point it's stupid to blame either the right or left politically. We know literally zero facts on this. People jumping to accuse the other side are all part of the problem.

My total hunch is that it'll be a loner nutter Jared Loughner type whose "politics" are all over the map. If it was a militia right-winger type, can't imagine a country music festival would be the target.

All I know is that I'll be avoiding social media and newspaper Comment threads more than usual now. You all know how it goes. It's going to get very ugly for a while.

The weapons expert said that the number of dead could go even higher.

Only opinion with no facts. Just a feeling that could be very wrong. When I first heard about the Las Vegas attacks, my first gut feeling was Antifa. I don't know why I thought that, but that is what I thought. Then the report was that it was a country music festival-lots of white people. Then they stated automatic weapons and I remembered a story I shared about Antifa group in Texas that was stating "Everywhere a battlefield" and training their supporters with automatic weapons and hand-to-hand combat. I realize the guy is 64-years old, but anyone at any age can be a sympathizer or a full supporter. With that stated, the local police stated they were familiar with the shooter. So we shall see, but this feels more than just a disgruntled employee or a crazy man deciding to go shoot up a place. This seems well planned with arms. The guy certainly had good training and was able to kill and injure a lot of people.

If you had a two or three man group in different hotels with supproessors or silencers or whatever you want to call them.......... there is no stopping that and it literally could go on for hours. A turkey shoot. You will have to have active counter measures to combat this now on every hotel in the strip.


On a side note. I think this is a big reason attendance is down across all entertainment. When I go to an Indians game and it's always with free tickets because I don't have this pressing need to see events live. I would much rather be at my house. The picture is 1000x's better and the food and drinks are better and cheaper. I always worry about an active shooter. This is a part of our lives now.

Wow this is sad. The people at the concert were sitting ducks.
