In 2002, Cal was kind of on the hot seat (seems SO long ago, doesn't it?). He had done pretty much nothing at that point. After WW and the Laurinberg kids came, everything changed.

In other words, he was probably in a pretty foul mood and he has a history of cussing out people (John Chaney, Refs, Weinberger, the 'Mexican Idiot' affair in 1997 when he was with the Nets). Not surprising at all.

Cal goes to Kentucky, wins a National Championship and now he's some sort of 'elder statesman', lol.

I think most coaches are certainly that in some ways. There is also the other side of him. My wife worked at LeBonhuer Hospital--surgical floor. Most know he often visited. Sometimes with the team and certainly with media coverage. The majority of his visits however were in response to phone calls from my wife or others to visit sick kids. On those visits he would slip in the back door unnoticed by anyone but the nurses, the kids, and their families. Pastner did the same thing--so not unheard of, but still a part of these individual that is talked about less.

Other than Coach K, who has beat out Cal for a recruit he wanted the last 5 years?

We will be very hard pressed to beat out KY for anyone offered by KY unless someone like Tubby is their head coach.
