tulsa losing to okstate was predicated by everyone, temple losing to nd was predicted by everyone, jmu beating ecu was no surpise by anyone....
we had no real upsets against us..some game were closer than expected but all that matters is winning..usc barely beat wmu, no one will say usc is shoddy...usc won and will still be top 7 next week
i say it was a good week.
+SMU and Tulane for doing what they should against their FCS teams.
+UCF and Navy looked outstanding, although against bottom G5 opponents.
=Memphis had a chance to make a statement...did not. I understand it was a monsoon, but they didn't cover.
- Temple. ND is a good I think? But they still were a 4 win team last season. We've seen Temple be competitive in this spot before.
- Tulsa played a very good Oklahoma State but didn't come close to covering.
-- UConn looked terrible.
-- ECU looked terrible (predicted it... but lost by 20???)
- UC played to their competition.
- USF maybe played themselves out of the top 25
-- you realize memphis was up 37-14 mid-4q quarter and the last ulm td was with a minute left...the games wasnt anywhere close to the score...ps i dont care about the cover, the line wasnt made with weather consideration...
that memphis game made me a believer of memphis, they did make a statement...memphis is a passing team, a monson should have destroyed their offense (passing in that rain is unrealistic)..but instead they ran over 300yds ..that game showed memphis offense will be deadly. they can gain yards in any form or fashion..whatever you try to take away they can score another way
-- temple graduated everyone, lost their coach, and ND is a top 7 recruiting team...why is this game a surprise in any form??...we are aac homers in this forum and everyone picked ND pre-game...most of us knew temple would be rebuilding ..even temple fans
---tulsa, who cares about covering...okstate is a top 10 team, judging how youll do in the g5 vs how you do vs top 10 teams is a bad evaluation
---uconn looked horrible for 3 quarters with new qb david pindell....they switched to their original qb (who was their 2 year starter) in the 4th, and they scored a td on every drive after that...pindell likely isnt playing anymore so using the first 3 quarters to evaluate anything is meaningless
--ecu: jmu just won the fcs national championship, they are the favorite to win the fcs national championship this year again..ecu was a 3-9 team who lost its best players..fcs title contenders have beaten top 25 fbs teams in recent years...no one publicly said it because ecu fans like to attack anyone who say otherwise....but this is what most people thought would happen
--usf will still be in the top 25....usf isnt losing 8 spots for winning....temple 2 years ago beat every bad team in the league by inches but was still top 25 most of the year...usf lost a chance to move up but is still secure as a top 25
overall good week
