Whether it is true or not white supremacist see validation in Trump. They feel he is one of them and are emboldened by his rhetoric and presidency. Because it took so long for him to condemn them directly and only after intense scrutiny from the media his words are not seen as genuine and will easily be shrugged off by these groups that continue to think he is on their side. Trump had one chance to denounce these people and he blew it.
