what is considered mid level FBS schools?

I would probably make it 4 tiers;

Elite (perennial top 10 teams)
High (10s to 30s, can play with anyone)
Mid (40s to 80s, can beat or lose to anyone)
Low (the rest, 5 wins would be a shock).

People are complaining about having a game scheduled with a team within driving distance? You all complain about CUSA being to spread out. Who cares what their religion or politics are? Football transcends both.

As long as it counts as an FBS game I have no problem playing Liberty. If it's not a home and home, then I do hope they are paying a LOT ($750,000+) for us to go there. Their stadium is nicer than ours, and probably nicer than our new one will be.

So, when do they announce the series that BW alluded to? If this is just a one-off, they better be paying through the nose. Wish HM was still on the beat, we would know by EOB Friday.

I really have no idea why they are not announcing anything but I have been told by two folks that should know that there will be a return game. Anybody on here have any idea why this would not be announced? On a different track but on the same game, I would point out this will be a game Liberty will be very highly motivated to win. Kind of find myself thinking back to our first FBS game at home. Hope they flame out against us.

Maybe some little detail in the contract?

Mid-level FBS schools include NC State, Pittsburgh, East Carolina, App State, and Western Kentucky, IMO.

If you look at that 2018 schedule they have to believe that UMASS and ODU (Troy/North Texas) are their best chances of an FBS win.... which they will launch fireworks if they win.... be ready for every trick play in the book!

If thats the case, we haven't done bad vs. these programs. (using end of year rankings instead of beginning)

Western Kentucky was one of the top 20 teams in the country. NC State was top 30. App State was top 40 (each being this past year).

Western Kentucky was not ranked and neither NC State nor App State received any votes in either poll. All those teams are pretty good, but being pretty good, but unranked is pretty much how I'd define mid-level. Granted, it is subjective. When I think of high level basketball teams for intsance, I think of top 50 out of 351 teams (roughly 14%). Out of 128 FBS teams, top level would be roughly the top 18 under those metrics.

So, we're getting $1.32 million for a game in which we will be favorites and our fans can easily get to. I really can't figure out how this is anything but a win for ODU.
