That's been going on over there way before Rudd

True, but Rudd's chumminess with Martin & a few others just amps it up a few notches.

They just need to hire a yes man

If Bowen leaves just let Alnutt handle it

I'll be shocked if Alnutt isn't our next AD. I have no idea if he'll be any good.

Would hate to see Bowen go. I think he's done an outstanding job.

He was pretty good on the African Queen. I'd say give him a shot.

I don't think anyone's forgotten that. The catch is in the bolded phrase.

Rudd is calling the shots, and the shots he calls are determined by Martin & a few others.

To their detriment, much like Shirley Raines couldn't get that you can work to improve academics at the same time as athletics, Rudd's presidency gives the impression of being intent on improving football at basketball's expense. It doesn't have to be an either/or situation.

A few things to note:
There is no conspiracy to improve football at basketballs expense, if it were true then they wouldn't have hired a coach for $3 million. Someone could have done the damage for much less.
There are credilbe sources that have said Bowen won't be hired for the BC job.
The next AD here will be Wren Baker

It might be good for him to go. The pressure on him at this point, is enourmous. If it takes a change of AD, then I'm all for it. The article did say that the downfall of basketball is from his decisions. I guess we will have to wait and see. Get someone in here that wants to win with all sports.04-cheers

How many times do you have to be told that it was Rudd that wanted Tubby, not Bowen.

It was Bowen who did not stand up to Orlando when he broke the agreement to keep Keelon on as bench coach.

How did he do that Fuente was NOT his hire. So how did he build the program?????? All he did was take credit for the work of others.

People get fired every day. Papa got demoted a year ago, with I think a raise. Raises are usually a good thing.

Bowen made him a promise when he was prepared to leave last year. That he will be kept on as part of the actual coaching staff. Then stood by and did nothing as Orlando broke that promise and violated NCAA rules in doing so.

Even with the rule change that went in effect last year Lawson would have had to be a countable coach for TWO YEARS before being allowed to be demoted to administration position.

I'd guess that's more of a Rudd thing as well, applying university-wide re: cutting costs, etc.

First, we have a basketball staff being paid at a top 20 level - much higher than football - and we prioritized the new bb facility ahead of the IPF. So that argument loses a lot of steam there.

What Rudd and Bowen have done is allocate some operating funds to football that they didn't have before - Tommy's missing stick. It was a great move.

Regarding the either/or debate - very few pull it off with both programs excelling at the same time.
