Nice arena. Seats 3,100, but looks like they could add more seats yo it. Drury have more fans attended then SIUE, Belmont, and about the same as some others listed. But here is what they are.
NCAA D2 championships:
Men's Swimming and Diving:12 titles won. 2014 was the latest.
Women's swimming and diving won 10 titles.
Men's basketball won the D2 championship in 2013, and is in the playoffs this year.
They restarted baseball in 2007.
They added wrestling last year.
They have 9 men and 9 women sports.
Men's sports (9)
Baseball
Basketball
Cross country
Golf
Soccer
Swimming and diving
Tennis
Track and field
Wrestling
Women's sports (9)
Basketball
Cross country
Golf
Soccer
Softball

Drury isn't going D1. Just stop posting nonsense.

Naw, real butts in the seats. Even with a 5-win season last year we averaged 3,166. The culture has changed. We have a Chancellor that understands the importance of sports and effect they can have on the overall University experience. UIC is spending money on coaches and recruiting (getting 3-stars signed). The attendance will only get better.

That may or may not be true, but conferences tend to like big-city public schools with top 200 US News rankings. A lot of potential recruits, potential students and alumni in Chicago for those schools.
The MVC already has the "Chicago" market cornered with Loyola.

Plus UIC is by far and away the best choice academically. It's the same thing as Urbana. In fact, UIC is Urbana's med school & health science research campus. That's Big Ten academics.

Academically, why would UIC want the MVC? The Horizon and Slummit have much more research.

The MVFC is not an integral part of the MVC, and the MVC is not dependent upon it, although both the MVC and tSL have influence upon it. The MVC will make the decision for membership that makes the most sense, and it will be a Basketball decision.
You can shake it a hundred different ways, but UIC always comes out top, with Belmont the only real competitor.
And UIC has no fans and does not have a serious athletic program. Ill-Chi is another San Jose St. Next.
No fans and no serious athletic program? This obviously comes from someone who knows nothing about UIC nor what's been going on. Don't have the time nor the inclination to educate you about the hoops program, but the Flames basketball team is on an upward trend.
Our other sports have faired well as witnessed by Baseball finishing 1 or 2 in the HL the last 11 out of 13 years. Oh by the way, baseball plays in a 3-year old 10 million dollar stadium. Men's soccer just won the HL Tourney and a trip to the NCAAs this past season. Softball won the regular season title last season and are in first place after this weekend's action. Our Women's Soccer began in 2014 and has gone 3-15 (1-7) 5-12-2 (2-6-1) and 6-10-2 (4-5).
I'd say we have a very serious athletic program.

The only thing that UIC can get attention in is mbb, which hasn't done anything. The one other program that would have gone over big in Chicago is hockey, which UIC chose to drop 20 years ago. Softball, women's soccer and baseball may be nice for the athletes, but UIC nearly has to pay fans to attend. I'm rooting for UIC though, if it makes any difference. DePaul gets yawns there, and they play in the Big East. How does UIC stand a chance?

MplsBison, I appreciate your support. I've resisted saying this because I probably would be asked to show proof which I will refuse to do (you know...that ole "sources" thing). 3 years ago when the Valley was looking to replace Creighton, they were down to 3: Valparaiso, UIC and Loyola. UIC had everything the Valley reps were looking for and was the front runner. The Presidents however, wanted a private to keep the League from becoming too public-heavy. After they got "assurances" from Loyola on spending money, they chose the Ramblers. Needless to say, the AD's were quite upset because Loyola had no baseball and Wichita State, Missouri State and Evansville were hoping for a baseball addition and the reps that came to UIC were quite impressed with Curtis Granderson Stadium. We now know how that all turned out. At least the Valley got into the Chicago market.

That's all pretty much out in the open common knowledge about the last MVC expansion. They wanted a private and Loyola said they would spend cash. Loyola was also on the list in 1993 when they added Evansville.

MVC should've added UIC over Loyola then. Hand probably forced by private schools. UIC draws better in hoops and has Curtis Granderson field.

Any chance MVC can get a do-over to take UIC over Loyola?

When politics usurps excellence as a criteria, mediocrity results. The MVC politics doom it as a conference mid major power.

They want to maintain the private-public school balance.
UMKC seems to me the most logical replacement here because they give both the KC market and an in-state rival for Missouri State which they haven't had to this point. They've been trying to market themselves to the MVC for years now.
Wichita State's loss may not hurt the Valley too much but get the Valley back to its traditional balance before Greg Marshall and Dana Altman arrived in the conference. Creighton and Wichita were bigger programs stuck in the Valley for years because of geography but now they've found a way out.

I think SBC was holding off from going to 12 incase they could get Missouri State. Then, you could see Missouri State and Eastern Kentucky invited to the SBC to make it a 12/14 conference.

You mean the days when Southern Illinois dominated the conference.

Has the Valley historically had 1 dominant team?
I thought the conference spread around occasional high level performances.
