James Thompson is a punk. We need a coach to instill some discipline.

Sam, you missed some A+ drama. inglorious way to end the game.
Akron's a better team regardless, but this was a stinker after the first 10. bummer.

Murphy might still be retained, but being without his leading scorer for disciplinary reasons, and watching Lee, Thompson, and even himself get T's in that game, is not a good look at all.

16-17 record for the season. Are we finally done with Murphy?

I think we should be, but I bet he gets one more year.

Been watching and listening from afar, but your observation says it all.
This just seems to be an undisciplined, unorganized, and ultimately poorly coached team. Plenty of talent, lacking everything else.

And it would be easier to accept Thompson's technicals and Lee's roller coaster play if we were actually winning more than we were losing.
This year should be the icing on the cake. We were one of the most talented teams in the conference, but finished in a tie for 8th overall. Murphy's conference records are 9-7, 8-10, 10-8, 8-10, 9-9, and 7-11. I'm on record as saying next year's bunch could be very intriguing, but I think those numbers are enough evidence to suggest that it isn't going to get any better than this and a change needs to be made.

RE: Tourney Week: In CLE
it's easy enough to make an argument that we'll be better next year, football's success takes pressure off b-ball (and the AD) and it's cheaper to keep Murphy than to find a new coach. i think all that comes together to bring him back next year.
i don't think we'll be better next year. Murphy is good enough at bringing in talent to keep us near .500, but that's all i expect. hopefully Lyke or Murphy prove me wrong.

Actually it was a contentious game both sides. Five Ts both sides.

I agree with you all the way and i will add one more you either strive to recruit character and talent or you get the hot mess this team has been all year

The inmates run the program and the coaches disclipine is non effective in changing negative selfish behavior

A Western fan once called Lee a team cancer I disagreed with him at the time but looking back I wonder if he was right

The mental toughness and discipline, and culture of the program, has to start at the top. All of the T's, lack of discipline, poor shot selection, etc. etc.......is a direct reflection of the coach.
Next year......same team, same coach..............same results.
I digress........back to football! haha

Ironic that the team that is quick to take disciplinary action for off-court issues shows such a lack of discipline on the court.
