From what I've heard and read, Doug Collins has advised Chris not to take the Duke job. Too much pressure replacing a legend, and really there is absolutely no way any coach can live up to K's standard. Even when Duke is down here or there in the past 10 years, he gets a pass. Could you imagine Collins or Capel having this years team, with pre-season talk of 40-0, finishing 5th in the conference?

Honestly though, how do you turn down one of the top 3-4 jobs in the country? I've felt like Collins would be the guy for a while, but Capel seems to be a popular name now.

interesting, i understand the concern, but i'd have to think it's his dream job. Do you pass up your dream job if it's offered to you?

Yeah, that is the other side of it. Where do you go if you turn down Duke?

I'll be bummed, but support him and be excited for him regardless. However, if he goes to the A10 (while I understand your reasoning)... that would really frustrate me. Mostly because it would further label us as a "meh" mid major to the "basketball experts", IMO. I would support him sure, but it would definitely bother me.

Exactly. The goal is for Keatts to help get us INTO a conference like the A-10, and maybe bring Charleston with us. Elon can come too if they're invited.

I'm all for that. Is that realistic? That's an honest question, because I've given up on keeping up with realignment.

I have too. And the A10 is already stacked with teams as it is. They'd have to have at least 2 of their teams move up to a P5 probably, and we'd have to have sustained success for the invite. I'm not sure how good the chances are for us to find something better than the CAA for us for a good while.

I want to find the guy that wants to be at UNCW. Keatts has soul searching to do, but Wilmington offers a pretty good QoL and $500k is a lot of money. I'm not sure how Davidson has kept McKillop, but that is my dream scenario, and one reason why I am intrigued by Darrin Horn if Keatts leaves.

We'll, it's an interesting scenario to think about. Like Buzz Peterson when he was at NCSU...State fans blamed him for losing out on Stackhouse.

Depends on whether A-10 schools would consider the Big East a significant step up at this point. If so, that would be a logical move.

Such a great UNCW fan, that Mullet. The best, really. And his hands are definitely not small.

Glad he's found another home. I hope he convinces the that Keatts can't coach. I saw other State fans being critical of Keatts' ability to recruit the state of NC since only one player from next year's class is in-state.

Who gives a crap where they come from. Success in state at an ACC school would take care of that. He had no problem recruiting players higher caliber than anyone State has had to win the national title.

JumpinMullet post on NC State Board - "UNCW played Clemson this season and got flat out smoked from the get go. 87-72 and it could have been much worse if not for some garbage baskets at the end. Clemson man handled them inside and drove the lane at will."

No mention of Cacok in foul trouble or our players not being able to hit the broadside of a barn.

Yeah, the concept of "locking down the state" is somewhat confusing. Theoretically, it should be easier to recruit guys from North Carolina, and there's some pride for the fans if the team has "homegrown" talent, but in the end it doesn't matter. I certainly never cared that Brett Blizzard was from Florida.

I laughed at the comment though. We play 9 guys and 6 of them are from NC high schools.

it's honestly more impressive to me if i can coach can walk into the home of a blue chip recruit and convince him to go 1,000 miles form home!

Mullet is doing UNCW a favor dissing Keatts and UNCW. He's a double agent.
