Why are you giving warnings?

Not sure how the feds are going to do anything unless its a gang problem.
Unlike the Obama DOJ I have a feeling that this DOJ is actually going to prosecute federal crimes. The vast majority of these shootings is a violation of federal gun laws, and many of them could be tried as federal RICO violations due to the gang ties.

That is fine by me as long as they go all the way to the source of how these guns are being obtained illegally.

It's already known how these guns are obtained. The vast majority of them are obtained through straw purchases.

We have discussed this a myriad of times on here, primarily when you trot out the same tired old line that you just used. Maybe instead of wasting our time reading and replying to the same thing over and over and over you should use a little of your time by printing out a little strip of paper saying "The majority of guns in Chicago are obtained through illegal straw purchases" and affixing it to the top of your monitor for the next time you feel the nerve to ask a question that has been asked many times already.

"illegal straw purchases"

Should there be consequences for the sellers in these illegal straw purchases and should there be consequences?

Every 4473 that is failed is a potential felony. There are tens of thousands of these a year and the rate of people who then seek to obtain a gun illegally is pretty high.

They are almost never investigated. That may change finally.

The only way to completely stop straw purchases is to invent a mind reading device so you'll know the true intent of the purchaser.

An effective way to curtail most straw purchases is to aggressively prosecute violators and for judges to aggressively sentence people convicted of the charge. When people realize that there's a pretty good chance that if they buy a gun for someone who shouldn't possess it that they'll spend the next 10 years of their life in federal prison it serves as an awfully effective deterrent. With the lax enforcement of gun laws the past eight years that deterrent has been non-existent.

Another thing about the form 4473 that the uninformed and liberals (usually both) don't understand, is that any firearm that is purchased from a dealer on the Internet has to be shipped to another dealer in your home state who then performs the 4473 background check for a fee before the purchase is completed and the firearm is transfered.

So much for the Internet loophole that idiots like Chuck Schumer like to cry about.

Only if the seller is proven to be a psychic because that's the only way they would be able to determine the true intent of someone who otherwise would be a legal gun buyer.

For many of the types you are talking about, 10 years in Club Fed with 3 square meals a day sounds like a vacation.

About time somebody gave a damn about those poor souls in south Chicago.

It's not Trumps job! It belongs to the Mayor of Chicago and the Governor of Illinois.

Remember the DOJ coming flown to Columbia SC because a petulant black female teenager wouldn't get out of her desk until a police officer assisted the Pest out. ???

Was not their job then either.

And he's (assuming?) made attempts to learn as people replied to him, been more than respectful and reasonable, I swear you guys try to turn anything a liberal here says into more than it is.

I do believe the topic of the thread was about Trump sending the feds into Chicago. That is what I was discussing. Which I do know something about. I'll admit my ignorance on purchasing guns illegally. Thus why I googled to get a better understanding. You learn through discussion right? Unless you conservatives think that everyone needs to remain ignorant. Yea typical conservative for you.

Sending in the feds to fix a city's problems without them asking for help is a very radical solution that can cause more problems than its worth.

Then don't send them to the "Club Fed" prison camps, send them to the USP's like Marion or Atlanta.

Your refusal to answer what exactly a seller has to do to sell a weapon tells me that the answer is absolutely nothing.

Sellers of guns have to do absolutely nothing in order to sell guns to people. Those guns end up in the hands of criminals. There is your problem.

If Trump truly wants to take care of the problem in Chicago, then he should start at the source where there is no consequences for sellers who sell guns.
