Hmmmm.... can inanimate things like threads show animal traits like cowardice? Perhaps you intended to call me cowardly? If so is it the actual me-who you don't know-or my opinion? But thank you for stand-up, manly opinion that stands alone as the font of all reasoning. I will snivel briefly and then my thread and I will crawl back in our hole and cower. A CMU fan....who would have thought it?

WMU built their resume off a lot of mid and low grade opponents.
Clemson would've probably scored a lot more against WMU compared to OSU.
And WMU did not "soundly beat" every team they played. But they got the "W" just the same.
I do hope for WMU to win, but with this being the strongest competitor they have faced this season, the wheels can come off quick. Most board members echo that Wisconsin has to basically not "show up" performance-wise for this to be close.
Don't doubt Clemson would have scored more. Don't believe WMU wouldn't have scored, though, and I suspect the final disparity, would have been no greater. Obviously, I'm a MAC fan and that colors my opinion but we'll see tonight.
Devil's advocate: while you are supposing results, how many teams in the country would be undefeated had they played WMU's schedule of unranked teams? (Maybe the question should be, how many teams are there whose only losses are to current top 25 teams?) 10? More?
I don't think record should be the major determining factor or no one would ever schedule a tough non-conference opponent.
Again, my post was obviously a bit of homerism but I stand by OSU not belonging. I also am realistic about the business end of things but while we're exhausting WMU's opponents by forcing them to schedule every other team in the nation to see how they'd fare, let's make all those teams go on the road for six games. Yeah, it's not a fair system, I get it, and OSU is undeserving of their spot even given the lack of fairness.

Well, in a 4-team playoff, rare is the year when there are only 4 teams who clearly are the only ones who deserve a slot. There are probably 6-7 teams almost any year you can make a case for. If it were an 8-team playoff, there are probably 11-12 teams who could be picked.
I don't have a problem with the 4-team playoff because of the length of the season. If they want to shorten the season or eliminate the CCG's, I could see one more round and go to 8. I see nothing wrong with the great debates about who deserves the 4 slots. I think it is good and makes the regular season better. I'd rather see the debate be about who is the 4th and 5th best team in the country than who is the 8th and 9th best or 16th and 17th best. But that's just me. I like football as a sport that fills the time adequately between basketball and golf seasons.

A one-touchdown loss to the #3 defense in the nation is very respectable. We were hoping for a win, but great job WMU for keeping it competitive the entire game.

Greetings from Dallas.
Was really worried in Q1 but turned into a fun game, even in a loss. Outscored UW 16-10 after first quarter hole. Proud of the team and season.

Nice try. You all made the g4 proud. Hey since no one had the guts to even start a game thread, you're all welcome over to the AAC board. We have a thread started for you. ROLMFAO.

ROLMFAO Seriously though, congrats to our fellow G5 Tigers on their 8-5 season and twenty point bowl loss to unranked WKU!

I can explain, WMU got steam rolled by the 4th best BIG team. The score was close but the game was never in doubt. Chalk one up in the moral victory scorecard I guess. Not sure anyone else in the G5 could have done better though.

This score is karma for NIU in the Orange Bowl. The Huskies were down by a touchdown in the 4th and had the ball until they fumbled it away and the wheels fell off on defense, that's why it looks like FSU destroyed them in hindsight. WMU on the other hand hung on and got within striking distance later in the game, which makes the game appear pretty close on paper imo.

After the 1st quarter I was worried about getting the Hawaii treatment. Glad they recovered and put up a fight.

An AAC or MWC team would have won this game.
