I'm still loving the show. Every episode can't be non stop action.
To the people whining about the gruesome deaths in the season opener....give me a break.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
I can't understand why people who stopped watching care so much about rating? If you haven't watched in 4 weeks why check the ratings? Why comment? Why waste that 30 seconds or a minute of your life on commenting on sothing yu decided you no longer want to watch?
I personally like the direction of the show and it takes time to introduce new stories. Hell if there was action and killing every week...you have people complaining. If there are no killings...you have people complaining.
This is not life and as far as history has told us it never happened before. So I take the show for what it is and to be honest by the time the hour ends...
I'm waiting for next week.
But if there comes a time when I no longer want to watch. I sure wouldn't waste my time caring about it. The ratings or how long it might last.

OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
Are we really talking about ratings for episodes 2-7 and 10-15?!?! The only ratings that matter are 1, 8, 9, and 16.

Also don't forget to factor in that the season started later this year, could be playing a major role.

Dead in two years.
Unless it drops to a .2 in the demo it's going to get a chance to end when the EPs want it to. The rest of AMC's slate isn't exactly barnburners in the ratings.

Disagree. The story does not need a end game - all the good guys kill all the bad guys and then look at the rising sun together, symbolizing the rebirth of civilization, only better this time?
It is about coping with a changed world. It is the ongoing history of Earth. The journey is what is important, not the destination.
nah, it needs an end game or people will get bored and stop watching.
If they drag out the Negan story line for more than a year and then we just basically have a repeat of Negan, I give this show two more years, max.
Still disagree. This is the latest chapter in the development of humanity on Earth, from the cave man on. The only way that ends is with the the extinction of mankind. thus, the apocalypse. So there's your ending. Everybody dies. Anything else is like wishing we could get to the Fall of Rome so we could wrap this up.
The story will have an end when the ratings have an end. The end.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
I'm hoping this last episode has a big tie in to the rest of the story because it was a waste of an episode. I haven't read the comics so I don't know what's supposed to happen.
Also, there's a good sexist joke somewhere about how terrible of a shot all those women were.

I have not read any of the comics - only watched the show. For those who have read it, is the current story line between Carl and Negan following it?

Carl is going to cost somebody to meet Lucille. One moment he is brave enough to hitch aride on the truck and then he is to scared to jump off.

It's because people want to believe their opinions are validated by others sharing them. So if they quit watching they need to know a lot of other people did to. Same way people come post about how much they hated Star Wars new movies in a thread dedicated to fans of the Star Wars franchise, and they read every piece of fanboy information they can get their hands on to justify their dislike.
The show is enjoyable entertainment so I watch it. I don't scour the internet looking for every little hint about what might happen. I just watch the episodes. I think people that are consumed with it might get a little burned out from trying to gleen every little detail and nuance from sources not the show. They invest too heavily and are often found wanting. If you try to make a TV show into something it's not then you're always going to be disappointed when it doesn't turn out the way you've invested your energies into believing it will.

He wasn't scared to jump off, he tricked Jesus into getting off and going it alone. He played him. That's why he waved and then Jesus realized he'd been played.

I haven't read them either (plan to) but I think I saw that Daryl took Carl's comic story. Could be mistaken.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
Biggest beef with episode 7 was extending the show to 90 minutes. The last half hour was 12 minutes of show and 18 minutes of commercials. There were a couple of seemingly pointless scenes in the first hour that could have been cut to make room for the 12 minutes of story in the last 30 minutes.

I haven't read them but have read synopsis. The Carl stuff from last episode was directly from the comics.
