How was the week in Houston? To quote Ricky Bobby, "Well, let's see. I got mauled by a cougar ... Wait, I am a cougar. ... I got mauled by a Mustang, I didn't get invited to join the Big 12, and my Crystal Gayle shirt is ruined. Other than that, it was great."

Great song GoodOwl. I remember the first time I heard that song. Night flying, night tanker, to the range. Night is either boring or nerve racking. It doesn't matter which it was that night. I do remember that all I wanted to do was get home and get to bed. The desk clerk had the radio on and this tune came on while I was trying to get the paper work out of the way and a quick debrief. I told the person behind the desk, that is a very good song. His reply was she is also a pretty lady. The easy going country feel with that beautiful voice had my attention and I have continued to listen to that song since.

Before the awesome, classic series opener, there was this intro to The Six Million Dollar Man. It appeared on the last two made for TV movies (out of three) that predate the series. The movies were "Wine, Women, and War" and "The Solid Gold Kidnapping". The singer is Dusty Springfield:
the more familiar TV show opening:
IMHO, everyone would do well to own a copy of this album, "Dusty In Memphis":

Album: Dusty In Memphis

Yo. I can't tell you how much my 13 year old self LOVED that damn show when it came out. The idea of technology as such. Now prosthetics mimic some of the things proposed on that show. Who didn't do that 'boop boop boop boop' sound when you and your homies were trying to zoom in on something in the distance?
Although I do not own that album you reccomend, I do own that song, Son of a Preacher Man and have it on the Dahbeed playlist. It actually came up yesterday when I was mowing my mother in law's yard. I can't remember how I ever mowed back in the day before ipods.
I love that song. Love her voice. Love the taboo implied. I'm actually old enough to remember it being a big song. Not many on this thread can do that.
