Apparently they are power washing the stadium currently to get ready for the home opener. Glad maintenance seems to be more of a priority these days.

The lights are on inside, and there's a nice view of the toys within, beneath the pulsating blob.

For HRS to be the most comfortable stadium on earth would require it to be air conditioned. Not against the idea, and if Judge Hofheinz had any real vision he'd have also struck a deal with Rice and Bud Adams to do just that so the Oilers could have a decent field on which to play instead of that half dirt half turf thing in the 'Dome. It would still be a great addition especially with a moveable roof which could be open on the truly great days we do have in the fall in Houston.

Remember this 1966 idea for a Rice Stadium sun/rain cover?

Given today's technology and materials, I could see a moveable shield like this over HRS when necessary.

A la the design for the movable roofs at the Truman Sports Complex in KC?

But they came to sit in our seats at our stadium, because it was THE place to be seen in those days. No pro team, no other major college team, no NBA, MLB, etc.

Those conditions still largely hold for a lot of SEC teams.

I see the football transport trailer is parked to the left for loading for the trip to WKU.

Also, with only a few weeks left until the Baylor game, I am surprised not more has been done to finish off the scoreboard. Can anyone who went to recent stadium functions tell if they were testing the sound as well as video?

Are those two small stacks of speakers already hung the extent of the new sound system? I understand they will cover over those sections on the right and left with the supplemental scoreboard strips that were mentioned earlier in the thread.

Hofheinz was happy to relegate the Oilers and Cougars to secondary tenant status in the Dome which meant the Astros got the choice of play times and secondary revenue.

…and, as of Tuesday night, when I hiked past it on my way to MOB rehearsal, it still had the 2015 schedule printed on the back door.
Hope that's updated before it hits the road.

The trailer parked by the SE gate has the old schedule on it. The trailer parked in the NW by the Pat has the new schedule. Looks like a new trailer.

Since we're already taking the old weight room off the team's hands, maybe The MOB can take the old trailer too. I drove a stick-shift Civic in a parking lot once, so I'm pretty sure I'm qualified to drive a big rig. Think of all of the props and instruments we could fit! At the very least, The MOB could use it as a giant billboard to poke fun at opponents. 04-cheers

loki, as on out-of-town alum I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for the photos you have provided.

This is a particularly good one as it gives a great perspective on the stands and what a difference the power-washing makes in appearance. Hope they eventually get to a fresh coat of paint on the gray (bathtub ring) around the field. All the water marks, chipped paint, and rust stains provide a discordant contrast to the shiny new EZF. Wish we'd bring back the 'sine waves' around the ring, but at least a fresh coat of paint would look better.
