It looks like that doesn't say what you think it does.
He never said Charlotte didn't start it, he said Charlotte didn't come up with this law.
But they did. They stuck their nose where it didn't belong prompting the NC Legislature to write up a law overriding it. So in essence they did come up with this law.
That's like saying "in essence" the Confederates came up with the Emancipation Proclamation.
That's not even close to what I just said above.
Your logic is saying that the people responsible for one action "in essence" wrote the response.
Excusing the hyperbole, it's very close to what you said. You just didn't realize how ridiculous your comment was until you read something equally as ridiculous.

You would have a point but the butch mayor was told what would happen in advance.

Still doesn't mean they "in essence" came up with the law or that fsquid ever said that Carlotte didn't start the whole thing.

Not really. They pretty much all support the legality firing people for being LGBT, denying LGBT people a hotel room or a meal for the same, etc. Trump supports that, at least today, as his latest statement on HB2 is supportive of it. Maybe tomorrow he will tweet something else.
I'm actually surprised the NBA actually acted. Good for them.

^^^herd mentality at its finest right here. Charlotte started this whole mess and you're lying to youself if you say otherwise.
It was Charlotte who started it, never claimed otherwise. Legislature had an overreaction to something that didn't concern them. Same thing with the dispute over the airport in Charlotte.
Let me highlight the part of your post where you do claim otherwise.
I think you misread then. If HB2 did nothing but repeal the Charlotte law, you'd have a point. That is not what happened.

I was just being sarcastic. It is really funny how Trump talks out of both sides of his mouth but pathetic how he is seldom held accountable for it.
McCrory and Trump were together here (NC) yesterday. McCrory has been playing up his fictional "Carolina Comeback" economic record in his campaign and when he came on stage he played it up, then Trump came out and said he had 3 pages of example of how bad the NC economy was! It just makes you shake your head and laugh.

Vast majorities of Americans think it should be illegal to fire someone for being Gay or to deny them a hotel room or a meal for the same reason. This was HB2.

HB2 removed those protections and confirmed that it is LEGAL for a LGBT person to be fired for being Gay, or denied a hotel room or a restaurant meal for the same.
And North Carolina's hateful GOP could have passed a law banning that discrimination. But they didn't. And they banned municipalities from doing their own bills. And the GOP in Congress could have passed a bill to do the same. But they didn't.
If you think it never happens, then why does the GOP oppose making it illegal to do so.

That worthless bill doesn't protect LGBT persons from employment or public accommodations discrimination. It provides some clawback of protections removed for straight persons only.
People are moving from NC. Events, conventions, etc. And they aren't moving to NC in response.

In Charlotte, LGBT people would have been protected had the GOP said.."Lets make it legal for people to fire them simply because they are Gay".
Spin it however you want, but NC's GOP (and ALL of it) decided to fully endorse that discrimination.

What protections where there before, and show me how they were removed.
In Charlotte, LGBT people would have been protected had the GOP said.."Lets make it legal for people to fire them simply because they are Gay".
Spin it however you want, but NC's GOP (and ALL of it) decided to fully endorse that discrimination.
Did the GOP say that? Take the drama level down a little.

denying a hotel room or a meal?
Drama queen much?
HB2 removed those protections and confirmed that it is LEGAL for a LGBT person to be fired for being Gay, or denied a hotel room or a restaurant meal for the same.
And North Carolina's hateful GOP could have passed a law banning that discrimination. But they didn't. And they banned municipalities from doing their own bills. And the GOP in Congress could have passed a bill to do the same. But they didn't.
If you think it never happens, then why does the GOP oppose making it illegal to do so.
the hateful GOP.

When you pass a law removing those protections, you are greenlighting or endorsing that discrimination. No drama here. Just facts.
