RE: North Carolina's Anti LGBT law
85% of HB2 protests were from out of state
Quote:Californians submitted more than five times the number of opposing petitions than North Carolinians did on the North Carolina law. The audit was obtained by North State Journal through a public records request and shows that the West Coast state delivered more opponents to House Bill 2 than the next 10 states combined.
The petition drive was organized by the Human Rights Campaign, the Campaign for Southern Equality and The ACLU of North Carolina. The groups, led locally by now-Representative Chris Sgro, head of Equality NC, delivered boxes of petitions with fanfare and a press conference in front of the N.C. Legislative building in April. The governor’s office’s calculations show the groups delivered more than the 185,000 petitions they originally claimed, but the governor’s office tweeted at the time that the petitions filled two boxes and most of the others stacked at the press conference were empty.

Just shows that North Carolina's bill is causing massive reputational damage.

Negative.
However, the US is causing itself massive reputational damage for normalizing and indeed promoting degeneracy.

Not at all. It shows that the pro-lgbt is well organized in getting 185,000 petitions nationwide (remind me how many signed the Target petition against men in women's rooms again?? That's right 1.326 Million.) but shows that this is a non-issue in NC. There isn't rampant discrimination. Gays aren't being tossed out or restaurants and hotels, trans people aren't being publicly shamed or humiliated over bathroom choices, and schoolkids aren't bullied. This is a PR stunt by the lgbt community from out of state, and it's laughable that they delivered empty boxes of petitions to make it look like there were more than they really had.
Five times as many petitions signatures from California than from NC and more than the next 10 states! Federal protections in California are the same as in NC. CA citizens needs to shut up about NC state laws.

Nobody cares about the NBA All-Star game, and the NBA can't bully North Carolina into putting women and children in danger.
Now that the NBA All-Star game is leaving Charlotte, can we please get the CIAA Tournament to follow?!? Haha

No, really. Who cares? Were you going to go?
I am HIGHLY skeptical about the claims of $100M being lost as a result. The NBA All-Star game doesn't bring hordes of out-of-state visitors like say, the Super Bowl. People are going to be spending boat loads of cash in Charlotte whether there's a basketball game or not.

probably not $100MM but it will certainly be a big number.

Guess they moved it to 2019 in hopes it will either be repealed or largely forgotten by then. Thry probably also don't want the city to sue them since they required arena upgrades that now don't matter.

Meh. Just talk Bruton Smith into holding an Xfinity series or Sprint Cup exhibition race on the dirt track at CMS and you'll not only replace the draw of the NBA All-Star game you'll likely exceed it.

Good point. I could almost walk there too. That would be revenue for Concord and Cabarrus County instead of leftist CharMeck.

I wish they'd make up there f***ing minds already.
"We're going to move the All-Star Game if you don't repeal HB2!!"
"We're serious this time!! For reals, yo!!"
Adam Silver to his sycophants in the NBA League Office today...."Why doesn't NC take my threats seriously? I've told them repeatedly I was seriously thinking of moving the ASG!! I think they think I'm bluffing. I'm going to put out a presser giving the NC government a real stern talking to!! They'll have to take me seriously this time!!"

I believe without a doubt if they ever did it once even for just the Xfinity series they would triple the 14k listed capacity for the dirt track for the next one they ran. I mean look at the Eldora truck race last night and it was on a Wednesday night.
