RE: Alton Sterling Shooting
I couldn't take someone else's life I know that. All of those lives forever changed. Point blank killing that guy. Ugggghhhhhhhhhh. I couldn't do it. I'd sell whoppers at Burger King before I'd work as a policeman in a high crime area.

Most if not all.
Funny, most of the Chiraq sympathizers blame gun trafficking (implies illegality, but they won't say that) and "Indiana" for the prevalence of gun murders there.

Those are the bad guys with guns but they are dead now.

RE: Alton Sterling Shooting
A couple of thoughts here. First if he was tazed twice with no effect, it would indicate he may have been on some sort of drugs. That alone would put the police on higher alert.
Second. I love how some of you talk about the police reaction as if they were in a class room debating a hypothetical issue. They were trying to subdue a person that they believed to be armed who was actively resisting arrest.
Finally, the Huffington Post article is the biggest pile of dog crap I have seen recently. His cousin says he would never resist the police. Let's ignore the 2 videos that show he was fighting the police.

He's been arrested like 15 times so I wonder if this is his first time resisting. Chances are....no.

It's not.

Quote:One incident stands out in the lengthy file; it involved a wrestling match with an officer that involved a gun. In 2009, the affidavit of probable cause contends that a police officer tried to pat down Sterling when Sterling resisted arrest, and the officer ended up “wrestling with the defendant on the ground” at which time a “black semi auto gun fell from his waistband.” The officer grabbed the back of Sterling’s shirt during the incident, and he was able to arrest him without further incident.

WHY IN THE **** WASN'T HE IN JAIL TO BEGIN WITH
Indeed, prior run-ins with the law doesn't mean he "deserved" to get shot execution-style in this situation. This guy's history shouldn't be brought into court.
But I admit it... when I see a long criminal history, it lessens my sympathy. Especially if I see domestic violence on their rap sheet. Maybe that's wrong and I should still fully grieve a life taken, but I can't help be influenced by a history cluttered with bad-guy behavior that's made his neighborhood less safe.

Not saying he deserved it. But I am saying that this never should've happened because he should've been in jail. I mean seriously.....how do you get arrested that often (and a previous resisting arrest) and keep getting out?

Our wonderful judicial system. Plea deals, credit for time served, etc.
Oh and the fact he's part of the 25% drop in federal gun charge cases under the Obama administration from the Bush administration.

I'll say it. He deserved it. With a rap sheet that long including domestic abuse and molestation, he has no business on the streets. If off the street is 6 feet under, so be it.

I thought the black man never got out of jail and whitey keeps him in for even the most trivial crimes.

RE: Alton Sterling Shooting
If violent criminal scum stayed in jail where they belong, there'd be fewer demands of a death penalty. As it is now, people see jails as a revolving door where criminals go to hang with their fellow gangbangers for a few years, get a couple tatts, and head out again to commit more crime. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Empty the cells of victimless criminals like drug users and 'johns', and make room for violent criminals who need to be off the streets.

This problem of public impatience needs to stop. Folks are "demanding" to see security camera footage? WTF? Just another example of our entitlement culture. Let the Feds do their job.

That's the narrative, but reality says different.
