We seemed to have picked up our recruiting across the board. I don't ever remember this many verbals and transfers, this early in the process. I think the two new coordinators have really helped!

Bingo. Young, fresh coaches who connect a lot better with the kids. Huge improvement on recruiting because of this.

I think the experience they got from going to P5 schools helps too. Coach u and Kane were all coaching at small schools before NIU and then they both left and now back. I think that helps a lot with the connections now. Great start early for the coaches and recruiting.

Too lazy to look, but how many years remaining once he's eligible in 2017?

So he was enrolled at Virginia but never played? Grey shirt? Otherwise wouldn't it be 4 years to play 3?

"Harbison will sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and then he will have four years of eligibility.
Harbison chose NIU over blue-shirt offers from SMU and Syracuse.
He enrolled at Virginia in January and then opted to transfer after spring ball as Virginia wanted to move him to fullback."
The former three-star recruit was ranked as the nation's No. 34 running back and the No. 24 prospect in North Carolina in the 2017 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

Kane originally came to NIU from Wisconsin. He followed Doeren.

2017 Official Verbal Thread
(06-12-2016 08:25 PM)NIU007 Wrote: Sorry, what the heck is a blue-shirt?
blueshirts represent the newest loophole for FBS programs to accumulate depth while not affecting their annual numbers. Like grayshirt recruits, blueshirts are counted toward the next season’s scholarship total.
There is one distinct difference, however. Unlike grayshirts, a blueshirt is able to enroll and participate in team events in the fall. This allows programs to get the best of both worlds: FBS schools can delay a scholarship for the following year, allowing them to over-sign beyond the 25-scholarship limit, and get the use of a prospect immediately rather than waiting until the following spring.
The use of a blueshirt was first popularized by New Mexico State, which would support its numbers by enrolling prospects right after the beginning of the fall semester and then place them on scholarship. Tennessee has also embraced the use of blueshirts under coach Butch Jones.

These new coaches are wheeling in some good ball players. I like that Bostad was able to make a good impression. He definitely has a track record for working with big time Tight Ends.
