You all misinterpreted what I said. If you're not 100% for going to a specific school, why even verbally commit? The coaches will take it away if you don't show commitment?

I get what you're saying. I guess it's a bird in hand type of thing. Or, perhaps a kid is just tired of being inundated with calls and texts and that stuff. I've learned to never really get overly excited about a recruiting class until the letters come in on signing day. Recruiting is a brutal thing and you never know if someone will swoop in at the last minute.

Probably, from what I saw on twitter he's been picking up quite a few FBS offers. Would like to have him stay with us but we seem to always do a good job recruiting RB so not overly worried about it if he decommits.

DJ Daniels was selected in the 6th round of the MLB draft which is pretty high. No idea what his intentions are.

JMU > blue jays
Have we ever had a baseball recruit drafted that high?

He will play baseball. Huge loss for us.

Definitely I was hoping he would be our backup this year get some experience and move into the starting role next year. But as a 6th round pick (out of 40 rounds) you can't turn that down, maybe high 5 low 6 figure signing bonus.....

That's disappointing since he was our top QB prospect right now from the looks of it. That's a huge hit to the depth of what is the most critical position on the field.
I can't blame him though. We'll probably lose pk kier to an fbs school too. If only we had coa...

COA doesn't affect losing DJ, unless now it's 300+ K a year for player COA...

I didn't say dj specifically. A P5 school would've lost a kid to an MLB team drafting him.
I'm saying coa will be one less hurdle in recruiting against pretty much any notable D1 school.

I guess I wasn't following the train of thought there.

Yes, several much higher.
Help me, having a brain cramp. Other than Kellen Kubacki, 1st round, and Eddie Kim, 4th round. Who were the others?

Given the Google search, a rough count shows 22 former JMU players chosen 6th round or higher.
As shared, several JMU players have been highly drafted, so the recent draft was nothing exceptional.
JMU Baseball has a proud history, and the potential to be a consistent national presence. The Spankmeister's sorry performance the last few years of his tenure as HC not-withstanding, JMU program is fully funded to the max number of D1 scholarships, has a decent ballpark (could be better), and should be making the NCAA regionals 4 out of every 5 years.

My App St buddy was right about Daniels. He told me six months ago the kid would go high in the MLB draft and not play college football.

As far as JMU recruits that were drafted- I believe that Macey Brooks was drafted out of high school in the 2nd round by the SF Giants (higher than his 6th round pick out of college) and decided to forego a professional career to play football and baseball at JMU. It would have been cool to see Daniels try to play both sports at a high level at JMU like Brooks did but you can't blame him for going pro.
Not sure how COA even factors into this discussion- I get that you want COA but the same way it was brought up when the JMU golfer reached the NCAAs or it may have even been brought up in respect to keeping the JMU Softball coach- it's not relevant in these cases. I'm for COA but folks need to come up with better examples where it's hurting JMU today in the sports where COA would be offered (I think not having it will hurt JMU in the future but can't find a case where it has already hurt JMU). Even Jordan Shepherd was prepared to go to JMU without COA before Brady was let go and he reopened his recruitment and landed at Oklahoma.

Just because fans haven't heard of specific players being recruited that decided to go elsewhere doesn't mean it's not happening. When KB said COA was a big factor in recruiting and the topic came up frequently, that is enough for me.

I saw that Tabb Patrick from Hanover tweeted this weekend he would be attending JMU in the fall. Looks like he was previously an Army commit. Anyone know anything about how he might fit in at JMU or why the late change in plans?
