His brother Mac is on the roster, but I don't know if that's the reason.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting
I apologize if I have already shared this, but Coach Houston told me this on the coaches caravan. He told me about a QB in South Carolina that we are recruiting heavily. He's gotten several offers from P5 and G5 schools, but he wants to come to JMU. Obviously, Coach couldn't tell me his name, but he was real high on the kid. The list of teams that had offered were impressive. Houston said, as long as, UNC-CH doesn't offer, we should get him. Sorry I don't know the kids name but some of the schools that have offered are: Penn State, Vandy, Wake, ECU, and Appy (I think).

Today's paper indicated that D.J. Daniels will not attend JMU after being drafted in baseball.

That is only 11.7 scholarships, 1.3 less than men's basketball. I would be shocked if 95% of all D1 schools don't have their baseball fully funded. Very inexpensive sport as far as scholarship dollars are concerned.

Pretty sure most of the CAA does not even fully fund, nevermind conferences like the NEC.

Correct. A large percentage of so-called "mid-majors" don't fully fund, but JMU has for at least a decade. While 11.7 scholarships may not sound like much to some people, it's a chunk of change when it's not a revenue producing sport....at least the way JMU approaches it. Should baseball ever obtain the consistent success of softball, a doubling in baseball attendance could go a long way in closing the gap financially.
FWIW...Mickey Dean in his first 4 seasons equaled the number of NCAAT appearances posted by the Spankmeister in 18 seasons, and Spanky boy never put back-to-back NCAAT appearances together, much less advanced to a Super Regional. I apologize for picking on the Spankster, but his mediocrity and the lack of vision for JMU baseball still irritates me. The Valley is baseball territory, and JMU has allowed the baseball program to underperform. JMU is the equivalent of the Houston Astros of college ball. It's disgraceful the way it's been allowed to deteriorate since the days of Babcock.

That's impressive on the softball side- there are roughly 300 D1 programs in softball- the JMU program is truly elite on a national level against a lot of competition.

Darrious Carter transferring from UVA to JMU. Undersized defensive end, but high potential.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting
He's listed on UVA's website as 6'5 and 235 lbs. Looks like he is an athletic freak, too, with a 45'6" triple jump in HS. That seems like a ridiculous number, but I'm not sure how that matches up at the upper echelon of athleticism.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting
Watched his HS hudl tape and it was about what I expected. Athletic and aggressive off the edge but very thin frame (which was what I expected for a guy 6'5" 235). I'm sure UVA expected him to fill out and I'm not sure if that happened. I guess we'll see. Sage Harold didn't fill out until his senior year and he's got 3 years of eligibility. Never a bad thing to have edge rushers, they're hard to come by.

So what happens if a player walks away from a school after signing their LOI? I'm assuming there were fees paid that are non-refundable. Is that it?

Hmm...hadn't done much at Duke and was dismissed from Duke. Time will tell.
Alls was suspended from game competition indefinitely in March for failure to "uphold the academic, athletic and community standards required of a member of the Blue Devil program." Alls had been named the Blue Devils' Co-Most Improved Offensive Player after spring practice. He was reinstated prior to Duke's Oct. 16 game at Virginia Tech and caught six passes for 56 yards before Tuesday's announcement

Are you sure it wasn't North Carolina? I can't see what other player other than Gage from South Carolina that is highly recruited and considering JMU.
