Congrats to @Im_Baylee (Baylee Steele) for officially joining the @EMUBBall family today?! Great addition to our program! #BecomeLegendary

Interesting Ohio recruiting site.

Big stretch but fmr EMU target, Maishe Dailey, is back on the market, but will probably go higher. For those who forgot his highlight tape, think Timmy Bond II.

https://tripledoubleprospects.com/

Or this one:

http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/tervell-beck

EDIT: Story on Dailey. Note: He did not sign with Rutgers.

If I read it correctly, Baylee has sophomore eligibility - was a true frosh this past season.

In case, '79 (or anyone else) was curious (he was discussed when he left La. Tech).

Kent State:

"Leo Edwards PF, 6'8" 230 pounds, spent a redshirt year and played a year at Louisiana Tech, then went to Santa Fe College (JUCO). 12.2 ppg and 7.1 rpg at Santa Fe. Will be a junior this fall."

Posted on the main MAC board. Edwards is from Romulus h.s.

Good time to mention that Moberly CC had a number of former Michigan high school players on its roster as frosh this past season.

per steve bell:

2016 Playmaker Guard Richard Talley worked out this past week for Eastern Michigan, Findlay University and Grand Valley State!

Richard Talley is a 5'10 out of Detroit Renaissance (Turner's school) Detroit News Second Team All Detroit.

Interesting. What does this mean?

Possible walk-on? "Plan B" recruit?

Do we need another PG IF Lindsey has signed???

Or what does this mean???? :(

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Well, its early in the game and Murphy and company could pull off some surprises like they did last year but the big question I have is are we going to recruit players that are better than Alvano, Price and Naz in the 2016 class?

Last year's class included two JUCO Div I All Americans, James Thompson and our first legit Michigan all state player.

My comment for this year's class so far in comparison is where are we?

We didn't know about James Thompson until like June or July. Murphy always seems to pull talent late in the game. I'm sure he'll do it again this year.

Indeed following our recruiting is very, very hard compared to say FB.

In FB we are seeing scores of players going to an EMU jr. day or some other event and many getting offered. Everything except for the grad eligibles, etc and say JUCO hole filling is done earlier.

OTOH, in basketball the recruiting classes aren't typically formed until say the national JUCO tourneys in March and then a lot of last minute scrambling for transfers, decommits, grad eligible transfers, late developing high school seniors, etc.

I heard of the possibility of a prep player last year in early July. Turned out to be JT4.

The staff does this well making their moves late in the game.

This is OLD news, but Kyle Hayes (a 'target' per Verbalcommits.com) has signed with Cornerstone.

As '79 would say, this one was 'stale', I suspect very stale. I doubt he was seriously considered in November for the one open scholarship but 'I do not know...'

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
NOT EMU related, but how to win at graduate-eligible transfer game:

JaVontae Hawkins, from the state of MI, went to So. Florida and didn't do too much.

Sat out and played a year at E. Ky. and shot 50% and scored 17 PPG.

Transferred to Fordham (A-10) as a grad eligible transfer...

What it means is that Rashad Lindsey changed his commitment from EMU to Arkansas State and left us holding the bag. Getting less impressed with Murphy and company.

Not a good thing when a recruit commits and then uncommits (and takes another visit) over a few day period and then commits to a school with a poor basketball program.

That is not how it should work. He did not commit to a higher rated program or school say an A-10 school or similar.

Hope all of the turmoil at EMU didn't affect his decision.

If the Arkansas State staff visited this site they found plenty of negative things about EMU athletics in the last week or so...

This sounds very much like he had a really good visit AND THEN someone got into his ear that things are not good in Ypsi and he had 2nd doubts.

Here is the original Tweet, I believe:

Mike Clark ‏@_mclark91 8h8 hours ago
Big S/O to my lil cuz on the commitment to Arkansas State!
