If they don't have 10.6 mil I guess by your logic they are bad fans. Tell me how much do you contribute yearly?

There is a buy out. It's called the balance of the contract.

Pastner has taken our business (Tiger basketball) from nearly selling out the Forum (18, 000 seats) to the current 11, 000 tickets sold. That is roughly a loss of 1/3 of our product sales. The future promises the loss of another considerable chunk of sales if this manager is retained.
As a business owner, I have a option to give this non-performing manager a golden handshake, but it is costly. What do I do?
From a purely business point of view, there is only one choice....get rid of this guy before he runs our business in the ground. What I can't fathom is why business people like Brad Martin don't see this basic fact. All I can picture is that they are letting personal friendship cloud their business judgement.
I said pretty much the same thing in another thread. He is an asset that is causing a loss for the business. Best to cut ties and move forward with a better asset.

They're not the only one's dropping them. I'm at scholarship level in donations and bye 6 season tickets, if Pastner's still here next year, I'll say good riddance to Tiger basketball. BUT, I will continue my football season tickets, not Norvells fault for what Pastners F'd up.

I am on the Club level and I am not renewing if Pastner is back. Been going to games since 1972. Season tickets since the Pyramid opened. Was on the list at the Coliseum but could not by tickets because none were available.

It's like the administration has completely lost touch with the fans. Anyone who is an active fan at all has heard this time and again and seen this coming for at least two seasons. I've honestly never seen a coach attack his own program and an athletic department ignore their own fans. It's bizarre.

If it were that simple... according to what I've gathered from here and there....
There's the Big12 dealio hanging over our heads, reportedly being shouldered by Fred, and the fact we could get a better coach if we waited.
There's 'the contract'. One big booster per year is committed to paying each year. For all we know, each booster may have just been sent his part of the contract to sign..never knowing what the other part was.
There's FB that will need funds that BB may not produce immediately.
There's the buying of a new coach...and god knows what other things they are not telling us.

He's paid to answer questions, do radio spots, participate in interviews and other media events. The contract didn't stipulate he had to do them well.

RE: My folks that have had tickets for 45 years...
I only had season tickets once, but I used to go to my fair share of games every year. The last one I attended was the home loss to OK ST in 2014. The tickets were given to me.
Last time I paid for tickets was 2013/2014 with four kings.
Not only do I have no interest in accepting free tickets anymore, I rarely watch games on TV. I'm getting close to to the point where I'm not interested in talking about Tiger bball, even on this board.

I hate to lose my seats, but it's an expensive place holder. If he is here next year, I am out. I have 4.

The balance of his contract is $216,667 per month for approx 48 months. Not $10.6M now or ever.

This would allow us to fire JP immediately and offer some hope to current players/future recruits that we're determined to turn this shitestorm of a program around.
If things remain as they are currently, we're screwed.
HARDAWAY, all dayum day!

So Paz makes $217 large every month? I hadn't thought of it in those terms; jeez what the hell is wrong with the world when that's the going rate for a top tier coach (not that we have one but we're paying the freight.....)

By definition paying "the balance of the contract" is not a buyout. (And not to be the grammar guy, but it's one word - buyout.) And Halfcourt is right - at this time there is absolutely no buyout.
There will only be a buyout if we fire Josh and he accepts a lump sum payment instead of 48 monthly payments. But that is Josh's decision. And it won't happen anyway because the money people aren't paying him to go away.
We now know the contract, and words matter. A caller to Edmiston this morning was absolutely convinced that the U of M would owe Josh even if Josh resigned at the end of the year. Because the contract was guaranteed with no mitigation. Or something. Bizarre.
