Maybe there should be a pro sports realignment sub-board, because that's all I am really interested in, is the stuff related to realignment or expansion or rule changes.

The fact that you just lumped them all together as generic NFL threads tells me that you don't really even understand what the common theme was to all these threads. Most of them are about realignment.

wait, are you serious, you only care about NFL realignment? Don't want to come off like a d*ck, but how can you not be a fan of the NFL, but be interested in NFL realignment? I mean, does anyone outside of the NFL care about NFL realignment? You're blowing my mind right now

Yes, it's amazing to find out not everybody thinks like you isn't it? Just like wanting to have 1 ongoing random thread for all MLB topics blows my mind. But I think there is room for compromise with your hybrid idea.

oh believe me, my thoughts and notions are fungible. I wasn't criticizing, merely astonished that NFL realignment could be such an important topic to anyone outside of the people whom it directly affects. I mean, wasn't the NFL realigned into four 4-team divisions not too long ago? Has there been any inclination that it's going to happen again any time soon? And if not isn't the discussion over?

Well, I include things like relocation, new stadiums, and moving home games to neutral sites like London or Mexico City under that same umbrella. Just look at most of the NFL threads on this board. Many of them involve speculation or news about the Rams, Chargers, Raiders relocating. Plus the NFL playing in London or other international cities.

I should quantify I am not just interested in NFL realignment /relocation / expansion, but also MLB, NBA realignment too. But the common theme is realignment.

that's really why I think a hybrid of the two ideas would work best. Major topics like realignment or the trade deadline should have their own threads, but smaller, less overarching topics, might be better suited to a general thread. I know I'd be a little lost on the college forum with every idea being given its own thread. I definitely don't think it's automatically a good idea because that's how the college forum does it, but again, if that's what everyone wants then I'm not the Stalin of this forum.

I'm open to your hybrid idea. For sure we had/have too many relocation threads. They could be consolidated into one without an objection from me. But a single thread that includes Manziel, the Pro Bowl, and a bunch of other NFL subjects? I'll likely blow it off.

thanks for the input. Definitely would take some getting used to, but I think we could actually get it to be pretty well organized. Pro Bowl, HoF, Offseason, Trade Deadline, Realignment and General. Manziel would fall under general and the rest is self explanatory. I think that would make for a pretty clean, well run forum.

Another thing I'd like to add: If you're wondering if it's cool to add another thread, just add it. I don't want to dampen the spirit of posting, just make it a cleaner, more efficient forum. If your new thread ends up getting buried, then oh well you tried. I just figure that after seeing how well the MLB thread worked out, we could replicate the success with the other sports.

RE: NFL offseason thread
I would rather just have 1 thread called Pro sports realignment, relocation, expansion, and/or rules changes.

But the more I think about it, if we are going to try this idea where everything needs to be posted under 1 ongoing never-ending thread.

I would rather this 1 thread be created on the college sports and realignment board not the pro sports board. Just 1 thread on college sports and realignment called

OT: Pro sports realignment, relocation , expansion and/or rules changes.

Then I can leave you alone on the pro sports board and not post boring threads that flyingswoosh doesn't care about.

Can you talk to the mods at the college board and make it happen?

For myself the next important date in the off-season is the NFL Combine in 2 and a half weeks

As a Browns fan I am interested in our next drafted starting QB to fail-in-waiting. Horrible track record but at some point you have to believe they will get it right - I just hope it's before I'm pushing up daisies. I've heard some good reports about the kid from North Dakota State (Carson Wentz) and I hope the fact that he is from an FCS school and trying to solidify his draft stock will mean he will perform at the combine.

Well...it might just be the definition of insanity but you can't get it right without another opportunity to draft one. New organizational structure and a new offensive minded head coach create another chance to make the right pick. As a loyal fan, there is no other approach to it outside of cynicism or rooting for another team. The latter is an impossibility for me.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan but my AFC Team is the Cleveland Browns-(My Father Favorite Team and we make a trek to First Energy Stadium every year for a game).

Picking at #2 and with McCown as the only viable option they have no choice but to take Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. Both have Top 10 Overall Draft Grades and in the NFL you must fix that position...it is a QB Driven league and you draft that position until it is fixed.

At 4th overall I fully expect the Cowboys to take a QB...Romo is on his last legs and long term need to get his replacement in.

Well said Maize. The common missing element for the Browns since the 1999 rebirth - no quality, consistent starting QB. It is a QB driven league and the Browns have floundered in a division where the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals have done much better to solidify their starting QB's. I actually think Tim Couch could have panned out but he was beaten to a pulp during those early expansion years.

RE: NFL offseason thread
It sure is amazing and neat to read people talking about their NFL teams hoping to get a first round QB prospect from my little wee ole' school up in North Dakota.

A kid that grew up smack dab in the middle of North Dakota, and stayed in-state, to boot.

Don't know if he'll have the talent to lead a team to the Super Bowl, but whoever takes him is guaranteed to get a hard worker who doesn't get into trouble. That's a fact.

I don't expect the Cowboys to take a QB. They are a different animal from those teams that normally pick #4. They'll take the guy that could help them most win now.

Jason Garrett was up close and personal with Wentz and apparently really likes him...now that does change if the Redskins release RGIII & the Cowboys pick him up.

With Stephan Jones having a larger say they actually been much better...under Jerry Jones they would have taken Manziel over Zac Martin and that would have been a disaster.
