Yes indeedy. And I've lived there before and loved it, so I jumped at the chance.
Do you speak German?
Mein deutsch ist schlecht.
Enough to get by for now. Will try to improve once I arrive.
I know a little german also.
His name is Hans he lives across the street.
That only would've been funny/corny if I had said "I know a little German"

That always helps. The wife and I will more than likely retire to South America but I need to up my Spanish game before then. Luckily I have a few years.

Just curious. Why would you want to retire in South America?

What grade level did you teach at again?
I've had many hand made turkey cards come home over the years and my second two kids are not even in school yet...

Wife is Peruvian. Why would we retire to SA? Cost of living is a big reason that definitely includes health care. Also, climate, family, etc. As long as the place is stable politically it's a definite possibility to retire there.

Sometimes it's hard to live a Christian life. I almost succumbed to sin by this post. A past joke came to mind. It was hard though.

Santiago Chile
They were similar to Venezuela of today, 30 plus years ago, until the communist marxist leadership was ousted from power.

Well, Christmas does make them socialists. They want you to spend your money to buy them gifts. And what do you get in return?

But if anyone's offended by Thanksgiving turkey or Valentine's Day candy, tuff sheet. You live here now, deal with it.
If I were an expat in a foreign country, none of their local holidays would "offend" me. It's part of their historical identity and culture. I don't need anything watered down for me lest I feel 'suppressed.'
This why folks don't like Americans...

If that's the case they can choose to live someplace else. No one forces anyone to move to the USA.

Chile is having some serious problems right now because they are a commodity driven economy. On a relative basis they are doing better than the rest of South America, but that isn't much to brag about.
