I'm assuming Ball state is a home and home? A&M will do wonders for attendance, coastal Carolina, not so much. I kind of wish we flipped those two. It's a solid schedule, but we are going to have to win 7 games now if we want to get bowl eligible.

No.

Coastal Carolina will be FBS when we play them in 2017. But since they will be in their transitional period, they are almost like a "shadow FBS" opponent. Great scheduling move.

I wish the NCAA allowed "exhibition games" in football like they do in basketball to begin a season. UAB fielding a startup team in 2017 would surely benefit from one or two to get ready for the games that count on the record. Can we get one or two of those "secret scrimmages" for FB?

Bill Clark has done a great job with this schedule. Depending on how the conference schedule shapes up, 2017 could be a VERY historic season.

+1 they count. Only need six wins. Let's get 7 any way.

Ball State is not home and home. Just a one game contract.

They should have worked in a deal to bring their basketball team here instead if a date could not be worked out for a return game. ;-)

That's what I was thinking. And maybe we didn't have any dates later because we are working on a different home and home starting in 2018. :)

I agree, excellent schedule put together by Clark. Open with a winnable home game against an instate school to drive up attendance with two other winnable OOC games. Going to Myrtle Beach in 2018 would be a fun trip.

I am surprised we don't get a return game from Ball St. I would assume since it's not a H&H we're getting a small guarantee?

The funny thing is that they are thinking they are scheduling geniuses for scheduling us as well.

I forgot about that. Then everything about this is great.

More than anything, what this program needs is wins. Although it sucks for travel, playing in the historically weaker West division should also help us get bowl eligible if we can keep lining up OOC schedules similar to 2017.

I love not playing Florida until later in the season. It lessens the chances of getting physically beat up early.

I like it start w/ first game vs someone you should beat but it decent enough to give you a challenge so you can work out the rust/bugs & work through the players. Then a step up to someone who you should be on par with or is slightly above you & is a good challenge for you then a step down to someone who's stepping up themselves then I assume either an off week before going into conference or a conference game before the off week. I'm not sure about the late money game just when you might be pushing for that bowl/championship run & get beat up. Maybe if we have an off week leading into that game???
