I don't think a serious discussion is possible if your position is that for something to be credible it needs to have eye witnesses. I'm sorry if that's not what you are intending, but it comes off that way to me (and others, apparently).
Yes, there IS evidence. Mountains of it. It can be observed, now, as a record of something that happened in the past. If you want to pick up the conversation from here, let me know.
But if you are just trying to point out that we haven't seen evidence of species-level evolution in the last 4,000 years or so, well, ok. No one is going to disagree, but you'll have to let us know why you think that's important.
we've seen cause/effect evolution within the last 60 years.....
go check out what the standard height of stoves and dishwashers were back in the '50s compared to today......you find these things out when you get divorced and get the rental as your portion of the settlement
evolution is continual and happens based on so many variables.....ol' chuckie was a pretty smart fellow that showed people how to define it....
that's what scientists and engineers do.....shite....one day it's oooga booga, the next (skipping many steps) thing you see is Isaac Newton developing calculus......that's why humans are so cool when it comes to the mind and how it can be utilized....
there are sooooooo many other ways to discuss this in general......I just try to stick with the simple macro side of things.....it always impresses me when I think of humanity in that context.....
if one were to pose the question, "if you could give one word to summarize happiness, what would it be?"......."discovery" would be my answer (and then would have to remind the interviewer that I'm not pretty in a bikini, have no talent, and damn sure ain't puttin' on a dress )
yep mach......it's afternoon time and I ain't driving anywhere now

It doesn't surprise me that you missed the entire point of the poll.

RE: Evolution Is Finally Winning Out Over Creationism
Man, these threads always make me sad. So many people have such a skewed understanding of what evolution is, and it's clearly skewed in a way to defend their religious beliefs.
Either evolution occurred, or a world was magically created around us that is governed by physical laws that allow evolution to exist, complete with forged fossil, geographic, geological, and genetic evidence that it has and still is, occurring. If you want to believe the latter, fine, but believing anything else besides those two is simply not supported by any evidence whatsoever.

Asking for historical evidence of evolution is ludicrous on it's face. You might as well ask for video evidence of the big bang or photographic evidence of Ghengis Khan.

Evidence? We don't need no stinking evidence!

RE: Evolution Is Finally Winning Out Over Creationism
It really is a bummer, because if one spends any time learning about evolution, they'd see one of the most beautiful examples of how a hypothesis can transform from an explanation for the observed differences in a select few species into one of the strongest biological theories known to man. They could see the beauty of so many different areas of scientific research working together to show evidence of this theory, and how even new breakthroughs like genetic mapping only bolster that theory. It's an amazing example of how a small idea can eventually become a great advancement in science.

Not only that, but nature is a wonder no matter who made it. It only required gravity, some mass, and the laws of physics to make a beautiful star that provides life, and also wonderment to humanity. Same with galaxies, nebula etc. None of it requires magic.

"Some mass"? I think you're oversimplifying things slightly.

A lot of mass, somewhat close together so it can condense, but the point stands.

Not really. The type of mass matters.

The type of matter matters, there are not different 'types' of mass. Just different amounts.

It doesn't, that has absolutely nothing to do with evolutionary theory.
Evolution states we all come from a common ancestor, and through random mutations and environmental pressures, that led to the biodiversity we have today. It makes no statement on the creation of that ancestor (abiogenesis), or the creation of the universe (the Big Bang), both of which have no bearing on the theory of evolution at all.
Your response is actually a perfect example of what I meant in the portion I quoted, lump everything in with evolution, and hope that people don't go out of their way to learn about actual evolutionary theory.

For those that care, I've always enjoyed this gif that actually shows the different 'branchings off', instead of the uber-simplified "monkey to man".
