RE: WSOC: Regular Season Champions - USA/ Soccer Tournament
My school's only been a part of this conference just over one sports year, but it seems like there's one team in each women's sport that's a lot better than all of the others. Like the cajuns in softball, Little Rock in basketball, StAte in volleyball, and South in soccer.

USA has won the softball championship 3 of the last 4 years.

Our first 2 years it was UALR in volleyball. We broke their conference win streak this year. In 2013 we got a lucky draw and took the tournament. This year, UALR lost a lot and stAte just killed it.
I can't speak for before 2013.
TXST is hanging on the fringes, just out of the top spots, in the women's sports but we have to get better. (except Xcountry cause we really suck there). Being in the SBC has raised the bar for us in recruiting and performance.

Go look up the current standings for Conference USA Volleyball and you'll figure out who owned the Sun Belt pre Texas State's arrival. Western owned everyone. They were always hanging around the Top 25, and many times it was rare that you took a set off them. Though we do like to point out that the Toppers did not win the league title their final season (2013) Troy beat them in the first round of the tournament at Troy.
I'm mildly shocked you forgot who the champ was that year considering your girls won the tourney title.

RE: WSOC: Regular Season Champions - USA/ Soccer Tournament
AS for why there is always a dominant team in the Women's sports, it's been that way for years. Before UALR became the great Women's Power in basketball it was MTSU. WKU always owned the Volleyball. I believe FIU was always there in Soccer.
Part of the reason has to do with the Athletic Budgets at schools. A tight budget in your athletic department meant that a large portion of the money got spent keeping the football program afloat. That often meant that your Olympic Sports, especially on the Women's side suffered. It seems like every SBC school found the Women's sport they were great it, and threw money at it to make it better, but sort of ignored the others. Women's sports are like this everywhere. the schools where they have a really succesful program, throw a ton of money at that program. Others with more marginal programs, sort of float by. It's why the Women's NCAA Tournament in basketball is dominated by the same 5-10 teams every season. Even at the P5 level, it's an issue. Look at Tennessee. They have huge donors at that school who give specifically to the Women's Basketball program. All because that program had a really good run of success.

USA currently leading LSU 1-0 at the 31 minute mark. We are currently out shooting the Tigers 6-1.

I have no idea how the brackets break out to who host next, or who may play.
This one is all but over, big win for our program.

Congrats. Sun Belt is really one of the better all around G5 conferences. Y'all are a big part of that.

We will be off to visit FSU, who has ended our season 2 years in a row. They are the number 1 overall seed. Big challenge to say the least.

This is a great win for our program. We have to play out absolute best to stand a chance against #1 FSU. They've ended our NCAA hopes the past two years, I'm ready for payback.
Go Jags and Go SBC!
