I hate to break it to you but when the owner of the phoo phoo boys is worth $2.3 billion then they'll probably just let you go without a fight.
I understand that, the druggy Lindner's can have my seats.
Seats down to field level are what gives Nippert its charm. So what if that's what's reserved for pee wee football. That's where my kid - with his 6th grade football friends standing behind him wearing their "Future Bearcats" tshirts - got his first kiss from a girl (a UC cheerleader) and told me afterwards, "This was the best day of my life." I'd post that pic if I knew how.

This is hilarious. UC fans will get all up in arms about anything before we even know how it will work.

I just cannot quite wrap my head around this...
You are going to take seats OUT of the stadium, so that would HAVE to reduce capacity, right? (Simple physics being...well, simple.)
Presumably, also, you then would have to put down new field turf, right? And this is AFTER we put down tarps and massive amounts of cribbing to protect the "old" new field-turf during the renovation work... Said, new field turf (larger than the "old" new field) would HAVE to be marked for soccer. (I also notice NO UC markings on the renderings of the soccer field, FWIW...)
And this is for the NON-PRIMARY tenant, which is a risky new minor-league soccer franchise that, just as likely as not, may not be playing in three years.
I just really DO NOT get this.

Is there anything or anyone that knows for sure saying they are taking seats out of Nippert? The main tenant of Nippert is UC football. I doubt they will take seats out of Nippert to accommodate a minor league soccer team.
Maybe the soccer field won't need to be full size?

Nippert is a FOOTBALL Stadium not a Futbal Stadium.
I expect attendance to rival UC Women's Basketball.
Perhaps UC needs the money to pay for Ono's newly bloated police leaders.

This is true.
But it's also the most excitement we've had in quite some time. Just wait until the end of the Tensing trial, and we'll forget all about this.

"The plan to remove seats to fit a proper pitch and the potential hiring of Harkes, who cannot possibly come cheaply, indicate FC Cincinnati is willing to spend money to run a soccer club in the way that it should be run. Spending money is not a guarantee of success, but having a budget to spend in the right and necessary ways certainly helps. FC Cincinnati appears to be making the right moves ahead of its inaugural season."

Not sure why UC football fans (the American type) getting bent out of shape for pulling seats and changing the configuration of the best stadium in college sports for a temporary affair with minor league soccer is hilarious. Even if I were a fanboy of minor league soccer I would think this was idiotic. I don't really care that the Lindner family always gets what it wants on the basis of being in the lucky sperm club. UC has a soccer field. Use that instead of screwing with Nippert.

Overall this doesnt bother me at all. I'd have to imagine they are paying rent or giving a large donation for the basketball arena while also paying for the removal of the seats for Nippert. If there is one thing UC always needs its more money. It doesnt necessarily need seats with poor sightlines.

I just can't believe how many people are going crqzy over losing those seats. People have complained about those seats forever. If they had just announced that they were removing those seats and left it at that people would be thrilled, but because a lot of people love to bash soccer it's open season.
If there is any chance of Cincinnati having an MLS team I'm thrilled about it.

Louisville FC plays at 13k seat Slugger Field and they are 2nd in attendance in the league with around 6k a game most of which can be attributed to lack of other attractions and the luster of an inaugural season. The UofL men also finished 2nd in 2010, so there is somewhat of a soccer buzz there.
There is no justification for them warranting 35k seats.

Not true, people would be plenty upset because it would dig into the total capacity number that UC fans constantly have to defend against other college teams. At least with this there is a reason, its just a dumb reason.
I'm still holding out hope that at the presser tomorrow that is mention of other updates to Nippert to offset these seat loses.
And there is a 0% chance of a MLS team coming to Cincinnati. There's a better chance that the NHL will start a team here in an updated US Bank Arena.

I suspect - given that UC has pegged the total number of seats at exactly 40K - there is a willingness in the athletic department to make sure that the number stays above that level.
The chance of MLS coming to Cincinnati isn't great, but it isn't anywhere close to zero. Dollars are important for expansion, and the Lindners have dollars.

I've not heard any official word of a loss of seats or a dip in capacity. Nobody from the University has put anything out yet about what this will mean, what it will look like, what changes will be made to do this, how those changes will effect the stadium for football or anything else. People don't know anything right now and they are acting like it's the end of the world.

Where is the link to the article/report stating seats are coming out of Nippert? I have not read anywhere the University is removing seats from Nippert. If they were to remove the first few rows, I would expect them being added back somewhere in the stadium.

UC can add that capacity elsewhere later if need be.

A source has indicated that the plan includes the removal of the first few rows of seats to accommodate a field large enough to be suitable for soccer.

So here's a flip side to today's seating capacity meltdown. What if a rumor that UC is #11 to the B12 is in fact correct; just awaiting a future announcement?
I'm only turning the tables on this speculation to say that neither UC nor the Lindners would do anything at this stage to jeopardize a move of that strategic importance to the institution. So if that's true, seems to me UC would have vetted a small change in seating capacity with the B12 powers that be, before agreeing to any plan for hosting a secondary tenant.

No you won't.
Wrong I dropped my center seats at the Shoe after 20 years and will drop FB if PO'ed after over 30 years.
And yes the Lindner's at 2 billion are worth 100 times of me but I prefer being me after hearing some of the family stories from my wife who used to stable horse where one of the Lindner wife's did also. There are reasons Lindner fronted the Lindner House (mental).

Well see what number of seats they propose pulling. Any number that drops it under 40k is an unacceptable hit when it comes to PR in the B12 sweepstakes.
Moving the seating farther away from the sidelines is a bad move, IMO.
