Football/Basketball tickets
I don't think we're gonna sell 5600 basketball season tickets, but it's good to hear that they are going at a good pace.

We are also not going to sell out Kermit Tipton with season ticket sales.

Why not? Go for it. Bring in the bleachers.

RE: Football/Basketball tickets
I hope they do! I think that for the first few games they will bring in 1,000-1,500 bleachers. I just think that they overpriced season tickets and have generally overestimated the raw number of people excited about ETSU football in this region. As such, I don't see us selling 6,000 season tickets or even having 6,000 at a game toward the end of the season.

Basketball I could see them selling out the entire lower section that is not dedicated to students. That would be an increase from last year. At that point they will have trouble selling season tickets for the upper section to anyone who has watched our games from there.

RE: Football/Basketball tickets
People are buying season tickets due to the lack of availability for single game tickets. The premiums are sold out for football.
As for hoops, they have to leave a set amount for students, visiting teams, and athletic dept. Employees.

Does anyone know the national average for FCS level football? What should be the expectation for FCS?

Good information. So if we draw between 7 an 8K we should be at the nominal attendance. Once we get the on campus facility and make an "event" out of home games I do not think we will have problem meeting those numbers.

ODU sold 14,500 season tickets the 1st year (had to cap it) and still continues to sell that many season tickets every year. So far every game for the 1st 6 years has been a sellout (approx. 20,000) and the study is under way to build a new stadium. ETSU does not have some of the built-in advantages ODU had/has but I am really hoping it starts off strong for the Bucs and they can build on the momentum in the seasons to come.04-cheers

RE: Football/Basketball tickets
The available seats in the lower section is sold out for basketball and they are now selling season tickets in the upper middle sections.

IMO there will be very few, if any, football tickets available for walk-up sales.

Bleachers are a possibility.

As for fewer people showing up for football games in the latter part of the season, that is normal for most football programs with the exception of winning teams in big conferences

And, as you know, many of the big boys schedule rivalry games at season end to guarantee a strong finish. Would be neat if the SoCon allowed the ETSU-Chattanooga game to always fall at the end. App State and Western Carolina used to have their game at the end -- and, there was a time when it was the real deal.

RE: Football/Basketball tickets
My question will be how many season ticket holders will actually show up to the games regularly? I know the coaching change helps, but our section was sold out last year and there were still large swaths of empty seats most games. I know I went to every game, but a lot of people buy tickets to show support, then their schedule prevents them from coming no matter if they like the coach or not.

I guess my judge of serious turnaround with the program is not just going to be how many season tickets are sold, but how many actual bodies fill those seats. Same goes for football. If we reach a point where season ticket holders are able to successfully sell their tickets for individual games on 3rd party sites when they can't attend for nearly face value or more, THEN we've made a massive change in the programs.

Also, does our insider have info on of women's season ticket sales have increased? I can't see them selling out or anything, but I'd love to see continued support like they were having last year.

RE: Football/Basketball tickets
So many of those tickets are sold to businesses and then written off for tax purposes, especially in basketball. The university needs to try and do better at contacting the ticket holders of habitual unused tickets and if they're not using them, get them in the hands of people that will. Now I'm not saying giving it to every derelict who will cuss at officials from the opening tip, but use them as an exchange/upgrade program for other donors/season ticket holders.

S. Carolina and Georgia and many other institutions encourage their season ticket holders to move unused tickets to individuals who wish to attend. Thru e-mail ticket share forwarding programs, buy/sell programs and ticket give-a-ways.

Not exactly the answer to the question you asked, but here's the SoCon home game averages for 2014 which may give you a better feel for things.....

The SoCon -

Chattanooga (6 games) 60,879 total attendance (10,147 average)

Mercer (7 games) 70,002 total attendance (10,000 average)

Western Carolina (6 games) 57,150 total attendance (9,525 average)

Citadel (6 games) 57,031 total attendance (9,505 average)

Wofford (5 games) 38,820 total attendance (7,764 average)

Furman (6 games) 43,375 total attendance (7,229 average)

Samford (6 games) 32,016 total attendance (5,336 average)

VMI (5 games) 26,314 total attendance (5,263 average)

And, hard to overlook the big hit the SoCon average took with the departure of App State and Ga Southern. I kinda like FCS size crowds myself. Those big places -- as you know, strains the eyes viewing from the clouds.

Yah, we have fans that can't see the basketball floor at FH. I guess that group won't be able to go to football games, since the action is so far away.
