AAC was such a great basketball league last year. This year is a stark difference. I think it's just a one year aberration. This league should be very good most years in basketball.

Hopefully Houston and ECU can use this as a springing block to improvement.

As long as UC doesnt fall apart they will be fine.

Beat XU and this loss doesnt matter.

UCONN is NIT bound regardless of whether or not they won today.

I don't know that UConn will be good enough to get an NIT invite. I do not mean that in any way disrespectful to UConn--they just do not have enough solid wins. And if they're going to lose to the lower half of the conference once more (just extrapolating out), it's not a very solid resume for the NIT.

Jeez, go away.

I'm only noting that an NIT bid is not a guarantee. What will UConn's RPI be after today? Below 100, right? How many sub-100-RPI teams that did not win their conference's regular season make it to the NIT?

Are you an ECU fan pirate jim? Just curious why you made that 1 NCAA tourney bid for AAC comment...?

Yes I am. Watching this conference play basketball is just plain painful.

Maybe...maybe not...as I won't count them out from winning AAC Conf Tourn and the auto NCAA invite, especially since the tourn is obviously being held in Hartford.

Every team, even Tulsa, has been in some close games vs some opponents when lesser talent...so the Huskies on one of their own floors...and with no other AAC team within driving distance of Hartford...it will be a 95% or more "home crowd" for every UCONN game.

Even if UCONN beat last place Houston yesterday...odds are they would still need to win conf tourn for auto NCAA bid.

Cincy fans, this was the first time I've watched your team this season. That Octavius Ellis kid is awesome.

You said it's painful to watch basketball, I offered a solution for your pain. If you choose to continue inflicting pain on yourself that's your business, but sharing it with those who don't care makes it our business, and therefore gives us the opportunity to tell you how little we care.

UC is fine for now, but this one just cut out their safety net. The more troublesome trend is the inability to play well away from home.

I would trade 3 losses to ECU for 1 victory over Eggsavier, so if this is what we needed to focus up for every game the rest of the year, then so be it.

Please, please, please get over it. The game is over. Move onto the next one and be as gracious a loser as I'm sure you are a winner.

I've been under the weather lately and have missed work the last few days, but it did give me a chance to watch the whole game yesterday. So proud of the Pirates for not giving up. That last 3 minutes was something special, I hope they can build some momentum from that for the rest of the year and into next season.

More like gave an uneducated, uniformative opinion. Anyone who understand the selection process knows the AAC is not a 1 bid league. Stop watching the medicore play of the eastern schools and start watching some SMU and Tulsa games.

The entire conference has one win over a really good team and that's Temples win over Kansas. The rest of the conferences wins are against a bunch of mediocre to bad teams. This is my last post on this subject so if you want to reply I will not be reading it. I'm done with this subject.

Nobody is calling the AAC a top conference. As it is, it's 8th among the RPI conference rankings. For an 8th ranked conference one would expect wins against top 25 teams to be rare. For that matter, they are for everyone, hence top 25 rankings.

What you expect from an 8th ranked conference is to be competitive and the AAC fits that role with wins over the likes of San Diego St., Dayton, NC State, etc., and competitive losses against the likes of Duke, Texas, etc.

The good news is that this 8th ranked conference is a conference that will send more then the 1 team that you suggest they will send. They should be anywhere from 2 to 4 teams, with 3 being the most likely. If one of those teams gets hot at the right time, like UCONN last year, who knows what will happen in the tournament.
