The Most Important Week in UAB Athletics History
Although Dr. Watts is receiving great pressure from donors, supporters, and fans, it appears he still supports making UAB a "basketball and soccer" school. That being said, the last 10 days have shook the administration to its core. To keep football, and more importantly, to preserve UAB Athletics, you will have to be the difference. We need students, fans and alumni to be at Saturday's game against Marshall. Further, we need to email, call and tweet Dr. Watts. Lastly, we need to support in every way possible Mayor Bell and Council President Austin for their support of UAB Football. Behind the scenes, they are waging a war for UAB. We need to support them.

Coach Clark wants to be at UAB - I hope we can create the public support that ensures that we don't fade into the night.

RE: The Most Important Week in UAB Athletics History
I will be there, no matter what the weather, the only excuse for not being there for me, a family-related emergency/matter, but I will be in my usual spot, prepared to give our team all I have as a fan and supporter that afternoon. I will not be among those "casual" fans that just won't bother to take the initiative to be there because "it's too cold", "too wet", "too windy", "it's legion field, it's dangerous down there", none of that! News Flash, people! THIS MAY UAB'S LAST FOOTBALL GAME AT LEGION FIELD...EVER!!! What part of that is not being understood here? Don't complain about the team being gone later on no football representation in "the football capitol of the south"next year and beyond (what a joke!) and you weren't there because of plain old apathy and laziness, nothing else!

Get up! Show up! These young men and our coaches need us!!! Bring some (bleeping) blankets/quilts and dress warm! But (bleep) it, be there! Unleash The (bleeping) Dragon! Blazer Nation really, really needs to step up!!!!

I have a horrible feeling about attendance. Marshall is going to bring a good crowd, though.

The 11am start sucks. A later start would be better for attendance.

That's a concern of mine, too.

Also get behind John Rogers, Jack Williams, and Jabo Wagoner. John is going to intoduce some interesting bills in the state house.

Administration support would also be better for attendance.

Apparent lack of support from the administration should be even better for attendance when D-Day looms.

I guess a try is better than no try at all, but can I ask what kind of bills specifically that Rogers has in mind? I've reached out to all 3 of these guys before (Williams, Jabo, Rogers) in the past with inquiries and never heard anything back from them, so trying to contact them has been for me, fruitless. Until, of course, election time rolls around, then they're all up in my mailbox or blowing my phone up. ;-)

Once we get through this we need to support with our dollars as much as possible.

Depending on how this goes, I'm ready, one way or the other. Ball's in their court now.

Check the front page of (Gasp - I know we all hate it) the Sunday Birmingham News. I think he is running with my idea #4. It might also be on AL.com somewhere.

Split the BOT into 3 sets of 5 trustees (appointed from each school) to deal with each school's matters and meet a few times a year as the whole BOT to oversee system-only matters.

Yes it would, were it not for the "bullies on the block" (fess, the last toilet & espy) if they could somehow be "bounced", it would ease a lot of apprehension. They remind me of when Bettye Fine Collins & Russell Yarbrough were on the City Council, they were there to vote no and obstruct any and everything that would have moved Birmingham forward, that's all they lived for. That's what this trio of ****stains are to UAB when it comes to football/athletics. Do you think our softball team would have that complex they've been thriving in now were it not for Title IX? They'd still be playing "home" games at Green Springs if it was left up to that board, if the players' parents hadn't rose up like we're doing now and threatened to transfer their daughters to other schools if they didn't get the proper facilities, they wouldn't be enjoying what they have right now. The idea of just one of them being on a separate board representing UAB nauseates me.

EVERYBODY needs to get their butts to the game Saturday. Call in sick if you have to. We need another big crowd like we had for Troy, AAMU, and North Texas.
