About the whole no "I" thing. I know other stadiums that don't have row I, like a lot of planes don't have a row I because on printouts it looks like the number 1 and confuses people... But I like the way he put it better.

Our players have talked about how brutal it is fielding punts looking in that direction during late October. Not so much of an issue this year!

Visitor's Side... good grief.....

(06-01-2014 03:14 PM)TOPSTRAIGHT Wrote:  I don't get what he means by "visitor side".

The sides of our stadium had never received an official designation until now. Before, it was kind of common to call the South Stands the Home side and the North Stands the visitor (or student) side, primarily due to the teams on the field.

We fought the home side / visitor's side thing for decades at App. Couldn't get people to understand there is a visitor's section, but the entire stadium is ours. Now since the stadium is been packed with 99% ASU fans people seem to get the concept better. In recent years it has morphed into App & State sides for the back and forth the field cheer.

Was hoping we could have had ours named the "Georgia" and "Southern" sides.

Well the FOC and the Bishop building are 2 different things. The Bishop Building is the smaller building on the West Endzone, The FOC is in the East Endzone. So they will still have issues because they'll be looking at the sun.

Our home kickoffs are all at 6pm though so It may not be TOO bad by that time.

Any idea of the time of the App State -vs- Georgia Southern kickoff?

I don't think that has been announced yet (as far as I know).

My guess for a Thursday ESPN game would be either 7:30 or 8.

Yeah am guessing about the same. They normally start pretty late. Someone said kickoffs at 6PM so thought that meant us also maybe.

Our 3 home Saturday games will start at 6. The 2 Thursday night home games are ESPN2 games and I would assume 7:30 or 8. It pretty much is a given that our attendance is better for late afternoon/night games. I don't think you will see another Ga. Southern home game earlier than 6 p.m. going forward (unless of course TV is involved).

Good. As anyone who has been to a game at Southern in September can attest, it gets HOT AND HUMID down here. Not to mention a slight zephyr is considered gale force winds when the air actually actually decides to blow.

Are the gnats as active at night? If so, those lights will bring 'em out in force. Think I'll stay home and watch on TV....

Really amazing how you guys went from arguably the worst looking stadium in FBS to a very nice looking stadium in a single offseason.

Everything has come together very well in a short period of time. Your administration should be commended for their plan and execution.

I think it's going to be a really exciting atmosphere. The pictures don't really do the stadium justice (as most pictures don't at ANY stadium). That 2nd deck and new FOC are much more imposing than they appear in the images you've seen.

It should really help the place get much louder and intimidating now that it feels much more closed in.

Well, I'm sure you can appreciate the brick and concrete. Charlotte has the foundation to have a great stadium in the future once it is expanded. Even now, it is just a high quality looking stadium....kinda like Mercer's but bigger.

In my experience deck pics always need something in the background to do the size justice.
