Regarding those "early bird" verbals. I wonder if anyone has researched that those recruits who "flip" on their Verbal are also more likely to have Commmited earlier. Say maybe when they were still in their JR Year.

That is a valid point. I just feel we could offer some of these kids earlier instead of letting schools be the 1st or 2nd offer. Some kids remain loyal to the first school that offered them. Again, JMHO.

Wonder how this will affect Dre Brown's committment to U of I? We still have an open spot for him.

Probably not much at all. Brown is a much higher rated recruit than Corbin is.

Dre Brown
Rivals: 5.7
247: 87

Reggie Corbin
Rivals: 5.4
247: 81

Brown is also built taller and bigger and looks to have 4.4 speed compared to Corbin's 4.5-4.6. Corbin definitely looks like he is being over-recruited, if that is possible. His ratings and tapes look to be on par with recruits that P5 schools go after. This is the Illness after all though.

New offer out to CB Jacob Murray 6'1" 194 lbs. from Coppell, Texas. We seem to be concentrating some effort in Texas. I hope we land a few of them. Does anyone know who our coach contact in Texas is? The 2 recruits last year were both DB's.

Texas is most likely Niemann as he was coaching down there before he came to NIU.

Wow, this guy has NFL DE size. If he can play he could be a nightmare in the MAC.

Imagine him and Dunbar on each side of the line. Wow.

RE: 2015 Recruiting Thread
I love the way we keep recruiting the state of Florida. No doubt, Florida has the best athletes, BUT Florida prep football has another huge advantage over most states. Spring Football is played here.

This year, spring Football started on Thursday, May 1, 2014 and will conclude on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Teams are allowed 20 practices with one game or jamboree counting towards the 20 practices.

Now if we can brake some more ground into Texas/Alabama/Georgia/The Carolinas we'll be in great shape 04-cheers

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/re...ch-results

Only 10 HS WR's that are 6-3 or taller, run 4.65/40 or faster and have a verticle of 29 inches or higher. 2 TX, 2 MO, 1 each from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, La, North Carolina & Wisky.

Demond Kirby (6-5 4.65/40, 41 IN Vertical/Racine, WI) has NIU in his top 3
while Zach Davis (6-4 4.5/40 34 IN Vertical/Kearney, MO) has NIU in his top 10.

Kirby has no offers listed while Davis has Holy Cross & AFA. AFA would be a bad choice for a WR as with their wishbone attack he will not see many balls thrown his way.

Sure hope they both get offered, no MAC secondary would have a prayer of covering both of them effectively. P5 secondaries would be severely challenged and targets like these would not only make the QB's job a heck of a lot easier their presence would open up the run game. Safeties would have to help DB's cover them and not be within 10 yards of the line of scrimage

Only 2 have received a rivals ranking which shows that those numbers are not nearly as important as their athletic ability and production they have shown in play. Davis had a terrific JR year, why he's not rated is ?

Image the career and the numbers that Landon Root will put up if he has these 2 to throw to
