kudos to your post....a nice mix of beck and jack white.....it's just a great song.....

i've been following cage for a long time and never thought of beck or jack white but after you planted that seed it was all i could hear.

fun facts: matthew (vocals) and bradley (rhythm gee-tar) shultz both played hs football at greenwood hs where my sons attended. both would knock your dickstring loose on dee.

both are huge western football fans. neither have gotten the big head in spite of making it pretty well for some bowling green boys. they toured with muse last year and i believe they're with the black keys this fall.

they're probably biggest band to come out of bowling green though 'nappy roots' had their moment in the sun.

fun fact: fishscales aka melvin adams played hoops for 3 years at western. better rapper than hoopster.

actually hbg is starting to turn into a jr version of austin....it's been fun to watch....the guy that works for me is a bass player in a local band....gotta support the fun.....even though I'm getting a tad too old for the late night scene....

i've known matthew and bradley shultz since they were born so it's only fair for my first contribution in this thread to be the boys from bg.

That's what it is all about daheed! Growing out of your comfort zone. I have picked up some appreciation for music I probably never would have approached through this thread. We all gain from discovery! There is a similar thread on the BBB board that has been going on for quite some time. There are some posters that have tastes similar to you and Stink.

The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon

Video is from the movie Pirate Radio.
The movie has some golden classics that even a younger generation would appreciate. I believe that the movie was based on a true story of a radio station on an old rusting ship in the North Sea to get around the maximum wattage allowed for a radio station. There were similar stations in the US which were based in Mexico and other places where you could crank up the watts and beam it out to a whole region of the US. If yo tuned in just after a cold front, you could pick up stations from quite a way. I believe that Wolfman Jack got his start in one of those stations. My older brother used to tune in to some early 60's music. A lot of classics also bypassed censors at these stations. The movie revolves around a bad boy attitude by the gang of DJs and this tune fits the atmosphere with The Kinks being bad boys of their time in the early to late 60's.

Melanie Martinez: "Seven Nation Army" - The Voice

I watched this young lady do this performance. I am usually on the computer checking out the sports message boards or checking out music. I stopped surfing when this song came on. This performance alone should have given her the win. There is more "cool" in this performance than any other I have seen on the show.

i just love music. if i hear something i like i listen to them. i google them. i cram even more useless information in my brain housing group.

i had never heard of the melvins. a few years ago a younger friend was looking for someone to go to nashville with him to see them. i couldn't go but discovered them through him. found the fact they used two drummers at times fascinating.

i've been to central america a bunch of times and have tons of latin music in my collection. everything from traditional salsa like richie ray y bobby cruz to modern latin rap like calle 13. you gotta love a musical style that counts a whistle as a musical instrument.

i'm a huge fan of tool but also love what dub-dub dog puts on here. i've already bought a couple songs he posted.

...other than moving to costa rica for da wimmenz and the fishing.....would love to end my days on the back porch with a keg, shotgun, and my guitars....I love the simple things and music is a huge reason why....

Great band that never got their due IMO.

Vernon Reid is a BEAST on Guitar. Corey Glover is a killer vocalist.
