You can find far more tremendous displays of faith in any soup kitchen around the US.

I wasn't comparing a Thunder game to a soup kitchen. Why are you?

You were commenting on the 'tremendous' nature of a display of faith, and I was commenting on the utter inanity of this silly display of 'faith' that you seem overwhelmed by. It's patently underwhelming, and indicative of the problem that christianity is facing in regards to it's ties to capitalism. You think Jesus would like those huge temples to sport being built while people are still suffering?

Your comment was silly, ill thought, and indicative of your limited reasoning ability.

Wow. I wonder how you would have reacted if this was an NFL player.

I wouldn't laugh, but I also don't think God is to concerned about sports. I was always told not to pray about it.

No, you don't pray for a favorable result, but you do pray for the mental strength to train harder and overcome obstacles, no?

No you pray for the spirit to glorify god in all things...

31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.

I'm not mocking him for his faith, I'm mocking the posters on here ardently defending it as if he's being crucified or worthy of some great praise. You want to see a person of true faith, talk to a hospital chaplain at a Level I trauma center. This guy puts a ball in a hoop, and judging from everything I've ever read about him, he'd be the first to point to others like I am.

Good point. I'm sure Durant thanks the Lord for most of the things he has in his life - family, friends, shelter and success.

God gave him the talent and the relationship with God has allowed him to find a path where he is able foster that talent. God gives him the strength to put in the work and overcome adversity with a positive mindset and persevere. No, God is not up in the sky picking winners and losers of sporting events, but if an individual has faith, He provides that pathway to make it happen. Some people indeed find a way to succeed taking different paths, but who the hell are you to tell this man that following God's path has nothing to do with the result?

Well said.

Call me names all you like, I care not...who's trying to say he can't thank God or whatever? if Doris thinks its funny he's giving all the credit away, she has the right to laugh...if folks think it's silly to ask God for help in a sports contest, they have the right to laugh.

I still don't see the problem...

Wasn't really a smug reaction. It was awkward because the answer was shorter than she was expecting it to be.

Where's the ignorance?

The ignorance is the notion that anyone believes God picks winners in sporting events and that thanking God has anything to do with that.

Sounds like she laughed because he played well and gave all the credit to God instead of himself and his team.

That doesn't mean she's an atheist...lots of Christians find praying for sports bad form.

That's not ignorant. It can be considered an unfair conclusion based off of what they think his angle is, however. We have too much of that going on both sides and on a lot of issues. Doris Burke is receiving the same treatment.

Admit it, you are just pissed off because this man tries to follow Jesus Christ and his life has turned out successful. In fact, the vast majority of successful people I know are either Jewish or Christian.

It is either a deliberate misrepresentation of Christianity or it is ignorance of Christianity. I am actually giving him the benefit of doubt.
