But this is very much the heart and soul of the Republican party, this argument.

But remember, they don't have a particular ideology. They are just objective angels.

It's funny, because if you actually knew anything about political science, you'd know that there are Republican strategists themselves stating that they knowingly used words like this, or other more libertarian leaning issues in order to drum up support from racists.

That's not to say that every republican is racist, or that libertarians who don't like federal legislation like the civil rights act are inherently racist, but when a lead republican strategist for Reagan and H.W. says this -

Most right minded people want to keep undocumented immigrants out of the country.

The difference is that one party wants to reform the system to allow more of them to enter the country legally and the other party doesn't.
