I like Dixon, but...
I'm still not sure how he was Big XII Defensive Player of the Year. I just don't see it. Maybe it is because of the position he is playing. Did he play PG at Mizzou?

That's because he never was.

He was the Big 12 sixth man of the year, and on the Big 12 all defense first team. He hasn't been what I would call elite defensively for us, but he is good.

He is pretty dam good on D, very good on ball D, he does seem to have lost a little speed since Missouri.

Its because of the new rules. If he and geron were under the old rules then their aggressive style defense would benefit them even more. The new rules are meant to help the offensive player not the defensive player

I think his defense has been much better as of late.
He is getting better and better as the season progresses.

He gets called for fouls that have always been called on Memphis players that Missouri players don't get whistled for.

Agreed. Have to remember he was away from organized basketball for a year. He is getting better every game. Saved our butts a couple times offensively.

Everyone is getting touch fouls. We should use this as a strength.

Nah, Dixon isn't that good on D at all. Missouri wasn't really in a tough conference, so those All Defensive Team and 6th Man honors don't mean all that much.
Frankly, I'm surprised he sees the court at all.

I agree. He appears more confident and a little more agressive. He will be a good player by March. I just wish CJP would let him play through his mistakes, instead of benching him.
As for Dixon, I feel he is not as reckless as of late. The team feeds off of each other, and when he gets reckless, it changes the dynamics. And they start the streetball type playing.

Dixon's biggest problem is that since he isn't a Memphis kid and hasn't been here 4 years some fans look for reasons to downgrade his ability.

Good observations.. Dixon's recent progress is a result of him playing a little more within the system, but I still cringe when he and Joe are on the floor together.
