Nobody is suggesting that Fit... but let's put some control and get rid of the waste.
I'll give you an example, there was a woman who got on the local drive-time radio show at 4p.m. one day, as the hosts (who are conservative-libertarians for the most part), were talking about this.
Note: this had to happen sometime back in November I think (before the hoildays)
The hosts were suggesting checks and balances... they never proposed just chopping out EBT or benefits.
Why is a drug test bad to receive welfare? But the big debate of the day was "Why not deny certain items (cookies, candy, alcohol, etc.) as cannot be used on EBT cards or food stamps"?
One woman than called up the radio station, and began to rant that "You don't know how hard it is for us to feed our kids what they want. Do you know what it'd be like to tell my kid they coudln't have a bag of cookies?"
The host then said.. "Yes, I do. I told my kids all the time "NO". I've been poor and had to tell my kids "we can't afford it"
The woman continued to go off about how it was her duty to give her kids what they wanted. Not what they needed, but what they wanted. She then (after the fact) that when she bought cookies, it was because it was "doctor ordered". Really? Doctor ordered? I
suppose it's possible.
It was just sickening how many excuses this woman was trying to give about why she needed to spend EBT money on junk food.
