A great quote from the person who canceled a game with TCU while at Tech then told the media they "weren't the type of team we need to be playing right now". He is an expert on tucking and running though. *edit* I'll even include the full quote straight off ESPN so you can all see how full of **** he is:
On Tuesday, Tuberville acknowledged that the caliber of TCU's program might have also played just a wee bit into the decision to drop TCU as opposed to one of the other three non-conference candidates.
"I've been in this business a while," the always straight-shooting Tuberville said. "Obviously, for us, we're going to be a very young team coming in. Gary's [Patterson] done a great job. He's done an excellent job of bringing in players and building depth and building consistency. That's really probably not the type of team we want to play right now."
I hope he grows a pair and takes up Kliff and TTU on our open offer to play someday. We would have to get a new scoreboard with a third digit first.
Cincinnati is desperate for quality ooc scheduling. Dont be so.ignorant to believe Tech has a standing offer....

Cinncy has a standing offer to play from Kliff. I guess you guys would rather play elite teams like Illinois though.
Kliff is a young guy trying to energize an exhausted fan base. If Tech had a standing offer to play UC, we would take it in hearbeat. Don't drown yourself with fantasy, kid.

Someone should ask TGBT about it. I'll bet he would say Tech "Isn't the type of team Cincinnati needs to be playing right now."
Neither is USF or Miami(OH) for that matter.

Again, he, along with the rest of the university, would love to play a home and home with you. What part of that is confusing to you?

So you asked him personally about it and he said he would love to play us? When exactly did you get a chance to talk with him about this?
BTW the number of BCS OOC games scheduled while TGBT was at Texas Tech: 0 (and we payed to drop the only decent G5 opponent we had in TCU at his request).
Number of BCS OOC games scheduled in the one year Kliff has been here even with a now 9 game conference schedule: 4

No. Did I say I asked him? UC has long found trouble in scheduling because bigger teams refuse to play us. Hence, wed love to play a school like Tech, especially with our impedending conference situation.
Furthermore, since Tommy has been here, weve scheduled games against Nebraska, Miami FL, and just recently, Boise State, amongst others. We also have a big game next year at OSU. I believe Tommy would fully support a matchup against TT

RE: Future scheduling
Does anyone else think that our current increase in scheduling of big name opponents might be a result of our conference affiliation and the likelihood that UC is going to be calling the AAC home for a while....seems like the only people with inside knowledge are trying to have big name teams on the schedule every year. If I "knew" a Big12-2 / ACC offer we're coming soon, I do not think I would load our ooc schedule. Might be nice to get some easy wins.
Btw, screw t tech and the trolls who hide in the weeds.

I think Ono "thought" we were in last year, by that didn't work out. I think you have to act/schedule as though you're in the American long-term until the ink is dry saying otherwise.
I'm not saying that I think we are getting an invite anywhere, I just wouldn't use scheduling as an indicator.

Plus you have to beef up the OOC schedule no matter what conference you are in for the upcoming playoff...

RE: Future scheduling
I agree; I don't think we should read anything about UC's future conference affiliation into football non-conference scheduling. It has to be beefed up if we're in the AAC to sell tickets. If we suddenly are blessed with a home slate of P5 powers due to a new conference affiliation these future games can always get moved or cancelled. I won't put that Nebraska home game in 2025 on my calendar until at least 2023.
