Hello. My name is Fred. I live down in Flower Mound, Texas (DFW area). I graduated from NIU in 1980 with a computer science degree. I'm enjoying the discussions on the Dog Pound forum. Thanks!

Hi Fred! Makes me happy to see some more DFW area alum! My Fiance is from Arlington and we go back fairly often. Ironically Also a CS major here although graduating in 2012. How are the development jobs down there in DFW? Might be moving down there in a few years. Welcome to the Dog Pound!

Hey Fred, welcome! I live in Dallas, just north of Preston Hollow. Glad to see more Huskies in the area. Were you able to attend the recent watch party in Addison? I'm hoping they have another for either WMU or the MACC if NIU makes it.

Software development jobs in the telecommunications industry, where I worked here in DFW (use to work for Bell Labs in Naperville many years ago), was pretty much wiped out about 10 years ago. But I believe there are software jobs in medical systems, banking systems, computer networks, logistics and transportation systems are popping up here. As you probably know, the economy is not too bad down here, but the pay scales are not that great. I also suggest looking at Austin TX; that area is usually rich in high tech jobs, and, for Texas, that is a neat area to live in (except for the traffic). Good luck!

I didn't attend the Addison watch party. Found out about it too late; I had already let my son borrow my car. Too bad - I watched the game at home alone - cheering & yelling all by myself. So, I'm looking out for the next watch party in this area. Did you attend the Addison party? I was curious about how the turn-out was.

I did not, I was traveling for work. I know a few that attended but forgot to ask them. I am gonna email Ken (bigdhuskie is his screen name) about the turnout and any future parties. Safe to say its too close to this game for something to occur.

There are quite a few NIU alums down here. There's a few at my work place and my brother lives in Frisco as does his college roommate. I know they would be in on the next watch party as well. I'm partial to having them in Addison because how close it is to my apartment.

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
I ran across this site after the Western Michigan rumor. (And no I didn't believe it).

Let's see...born/raised in Chicago. Huskie Class of 2012. My claim to fame was being the first person to rush the field for the GoDaddy.com bowl. I go to as many games as I can. Was thinking about maybe going to Arkansas next year. I'm glad I found a site to talk Huskie football and especially about recruiting. This site looks perfect for me. I used all of my senior year book money for a NIU to win the MAC bet. It was a wild ride following the team that season, after we lost at Central Michigan to open the conference season I was thinking ... Oh crap...they have to win out.

Let me just start with.. Wow, I had no idea that there this many NIU fanatics. Until yesterday, my main outlet in regards to posting about the Huskies was Facebook.

How I ran into the site: I was searching google about the nissanheismanhouse voting, and ran across the thread about how lynch is closing in on #1.

I've been a fan since I was 8 years old; The days of Michael Turner. For years I had my background as the picture that is up on turnertheburner.com (http://turnertheburner.com/images/multim...1024.jpg). My first jersey was a Steve Azar, and my second jersey was of Garret Wolfe. Back when I was in grade school, Dan Sheldon was playing for my High School (Central High School of Burlington Illinois). Probably my favorite game that I ever attended was the game against Maryland in 03. I became a Huskies fan because my Half-brother's dad was an Alum of NIU, and he (my brother) brought me to my first game in 2002 ( I don't remember which game). His father was apart of the crowd that tore down the field goal post when NIU upset Fresno State.
I currently attend the University of Kansas, and watch the games from my dorm room each weekend/weekday. I brew up a storm and Scream at the top of my lungs every time Jordan Lynch goes for 6. I love the huskies and always will. Go HUSKIES!

Introduce Yourself Here
I was born and raised in chicago and I'm currently active duty navy, been in 8 years and never really followed college sports because I couldn't relate to any of the teams besides Navy. I am getting out next August and have been accepted to NIU. I have been following the huskie football team religiously all season and am pumped for the seasons to come.

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Hi all,
I've been reading the Dog Pound message board for a while now and I think I am going to start posting. It's such a great place to get news and opinion's about our Huskies.

About myself: I've been to almost all the home games (missed 2) since I started going to school at NIU in 2008. I also will be going to my 4th MAC Championship Friday, and I went to the Independence Bowl, GoDaddy and the Orange Bowl. True story: A couple buddies and myself camped outside the Convo for Independence Bowl tickets (got there at maybe 6am) after we heard they were giving out free tickets to students. It turned out to be highly unnecessary and only one other person showed just before it opened. After that day I was pretty much committed.

Go Huskies! Beat BG and lets make this BCS round 2!

Hello. I have not visited this site since 2008. Long time. I am so impressed with the football team. When I went to school the coach was Pettibone. Wow that is a long time ago. Back then the basketball team under Jim Molinari was good.
