RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Good morning, Huskie fans. I'm NIU Tom. I've been a season ticket holder since 2003 and have supported the HASF and Huskie football since... I joined this websight to follow the pre and post Orange Bowl discussions concerning recruiting, coaching changes, and other good conversation about the Huskies.... I'll look forward to sharing my thoughts and discussion about our favorite team. Go Huskies!

Hey all,

Fellow MAC fan here (Miam Redskin/Hawk alum) and Chicago resident. I was already going to be in the West Palm area over New Years taking care of my folks' property and have decided to make the trip to Miami for the game to root on the Huskies and MACtion. I'm attending solo so if anyone is willing to let me hang around pregame I'd be much obliged. Would be more than willing to give a ride to or from the Palm Beach areas if you're staying there!

The plan is for a large contingent of us to tailgate in Lot 10. Feel free to stop by.

04-bow great you are going miamigoat. some people in the miami carpool thread were asking about needing rides to and from the game. I am sure they would point you to a fun tailgate. thanks again for going 04-rock

Hey everyone! 2008 NIU grad, and just found this forum. I mostly joined to see some Orange Bowl discussion, but I am getting a feeling I will stick around longer than that...

I am driving down to Fort Lauderdale/Miami with my girlfriend (converted NIU fan) for the game. We got some great seats: NIU sideline, 10th row around the 40, and also got our Game Day tickets.

Looking forward to joining in the discussions around here!

Hey everyone, great forum. I'm Chris, NIU class of 1984. I'm a professional photographer and shoot for Icon/SMI and cover NIU football and basketball. If any of you ate NIU students or alum and read the Northen Star newspaper then you've seen the work of my son, Erik Anderson, who has shot for NIU for a couple of years and just graduated. Look forward to reading all of the great posts and interacting with NIU and MAC fans. [/size]

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
On & off lurker for many years. Just joined recently. Had to join due to this Orange Bowl craziness.

Went to NIU from 1999-2003. Kinda had to, since I missed my deadline to get paperwork to Illinois State, but it ended up working out. Live/work in Chicago now.

Saw most of the NIU football and basketball games in that time period, volleyball, too. Even went to one game at the Chick where I was lying on the top row sick as a dog. You could see me on a highlight show if you looked hard enough.

First few years of FB were good. Highlight of 1999 was that goalpost teardown debacle. I remember running ahead of the crowd and laughing all the way while fans were tearing street signs out of the ground. Nearly got hit by a flying ball of mud at the Lagoon.

Felt real bad for Thomas Hammock went his career was cut short. Seemed like a nice guy talking to him on the radio.

That 2002 team was real special. Getting that win vs. Wake Forest was special at the time, and beating Bowling Green, ranked at that time, was even better.

2003 got me through some personal tough times and it made my last semester there bearable. Only good thing going on. I was the only person ringing the Victory Bell after the Bama win (great crowd at the Convo) and I was up all night waiting at Huskie Stadium for them to comeback. My Grandma died the next day. Actually left the Ohio game early when I thought they would lose and ran back from the Library when I heard they were coming back. I still remember driving around in a daze after the loss to Toledo.

I miss watching Steve Azar actually make tackles.

Alright, my buddy Ryan (NIUguy) said that I should post here, so I'm working on getting that done. I was at NIU in the early aughts (2000s) studying theatre. Now I live and work in Chicago and do my best to attend any home games when I don't have a show. This season has been amazing, still licking my emotional wounds from Miami. **** it, Go Huskies!

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Hi all, after my trip to the Orange Bowl I figure I'd be a little more vocal and start contributing a bit. I am a 2010 grad living in Wrigleyville. While still a student I attend every home game and hosted massive tailgates in the Red Riot lot. Since graduation I make it out to dekalb for at least homecoming and I take a trip to one away game. It was great seeing all the support down in Miami. Go huskies!

I too am a long time listener, first time caller. I have been coming to this board for years to get the inside scoop on NIU Football. Most of what I read here has been entertaining. My first NIU game was in '06 against Indiana St. and have been hooked ever since. I graduated from NIU in 2011 (BS ME), and now live in Geneva. During my time at NIU, I missed less than a handful of games at home. Some notable away games I went to include Purdue in '09, Illinois '10, MACC '12, and most recently the Orange Bowl. Its been one week since the OB, and I'm going through withdrawals so I decided to create a login to join in on the banter. Go Huskies!

RE: Introduce Yourself Here
Hello all, first post after mass-lurking over the last two years. I discovered this site after searching for tailgate info on Huskie Stadium. Current student in the COB, Minor in Poly Sci. completed, and Cubs season tix holder. I first started watching NIU football in '99 when I was first planing on attending NIU, also knew a couple cheerleaders and friends that were attending around then too. I decided to start my own corporation instead of attending NIU at that time. I Attend most Home games, and bring a few alums and friends with to join the mini road trip to DeKalb for games, of course BBQ is a key part of the tailgate routine. I'm a Fan of the Burner-Turner, Harnish, & current Huskie Tommylee Lewis. I Just got back from an extended South Florida visit (12/26-1/13) and of course the OB game. Looking forward to finally chiming in & discussing all things NIU. 04-cheers

Hello all! Big NIU fan, road tripped with roommates to Silicon Valley Bowl back in 2004 thinking that maybe NIU's only bowl trip in the decade, boy was I wrong, safe to say I didn't miss the OB. I have been following the various threads for some time now, looking forward to contributing any insight and continuing to get the inside scoop from all of you guys.
