Rongie didn’t have much bulk and wasn’t very good on defense. He was a pretty good offensive player but definitely not a real post player.
225 lbs on a 6’8” frame isn’t very bulky at all.
We need a big dude who can run and rebound and play in our zone.
All respect to Rongie but he was a liability on the court when he played. He didn’t really even foul correctly I feel like he got and 1’d constantly

That wasn’t Rongie. He was not a physical player at all, got lost on defense and didn’t have a good rebound rate. If the coaches saw it in practice, they would have played him.

We have three pretty solid bigs, same as last season (buffen, Davis and Jemison) but losing a lot of physical presence and nastiness with the two losses. Our new bigs are very athletic but probably not as physical. Really do need one more in reserve who brings some physicality.
Yaxel is listed at 6’9”, 230. He averaged over 10 boards a game, and had multiple games with huge rebounding numbers. I’m actually thinking he can probably bang a good bit if he’s willing.

Very early, but I saw that we offered Luke Ertel, brother to Mike. I believe he would be in the 2026 class. He’s currently 6’1,” but might grow more since he’s a freshman.
