Maybe CBU can get some push back of only leaving Riverside 2 times before WAC play....

Why would there be push back? Its totally different for CBU. They're still in transition, and they're non profit.

Comparing CBU and GCU 4 years into D1 CBU has played 13 total road games, where GCU played 25. About half of CBU's road games are within an hour or 2 from campus. GCU played double the amount of road games as CBU at the same juncture in D1... #TheMoreYouKnow

Yes but, how many DI schools are within 2 hours of CBU? How many within 2 hours of GCU. I am not trying to favor one side or the other, just trying to add a data point to the discussion.

GCU would have three - the 3 Arizona Publics.

Cal St Northridge
Long Beach State
UC Irvine
UC Riverside
UC San Diego
San Diego State
Southern Cal
Pepperdine
Loyola Marymount

And the few schools within 2 hours of GCU were refusing to play a for profit. CBU doesn't have that issue. CBU is a respected school and have issues scheduling.

Arizona NAU(local schools) PennSt Duke Kentucky Harvard Utah Indiana did have any problem/hangup scheduling GCU when they were starting out in D1.

CBU is scheduling smart and successfully with the budget they have to work with. I'm not clear why you want people to be mad about it.

I don't want ppl mad at all but bring that same snark and petty energy everyone on this board came at GCU and still do towards GCU. Let's just keep it 100.

CBU basketball budget is similar to NMSU and SeattleU. The Lancers have plenty of cash to burn if they want to.

That was not me who said that, I think you deleted the wrong part from the post you quoted. I do see Lopes87 point. There have been some posters who have criticized GCU pretty harshly. I think the idea is, CBU appears to be getting a pass, while GCU did not.

I just want the WAC members to win their non-conference games, whomever they are against. It will help the perception of the conference as a whole.
Only tangentially related, but Mario said that the WAC has two years left on its contract with the Orleans Arena in his Ask the AD yesterday. I hope that the tournament stays in the Orleans, but I think they might have issues accommodating both the WCC and a 14-team WAC. We would likely have to have our championship game on Selection Sunday.

Top ten get into the tournament. 1 and 2 seeds get first round byes.

With top 10 you would have byes for the 1 and 2 seeds for the first two rounds. First round would narrow to four teams plus 1 &2 , second round to two teams plus 1 & 2, then semifinals and finals.

nah I hate that structure. Want everyone at the party. Top 12 with four first round byes is more digestible.
This season, only 11 teams can participate in the WAC tournament. Ten are eligible for the NCAA tournament plus CBU who is allowed to participate in the WAC tournament but can't receive the WAC auto bid if they happen to the WAC championship. Tarleton State and Dixie State still need to sit out the WAC tournament another year if not longer. It will be interesting to see if the WAC takes only the top 8 teams to Las Vegas, or have on-site play-in games prior to the WAC tournament in Las Vegas, or works with the Orleans Arena to move the WAC Championship games to Sunday to accommodate the larger WAC field.

You need to add Cal State Fullerton to that list. UCSB and CSUB in 2 1/2 hours on a good day. CBU has a lot of "pay games" on their home schedule. They have to play UCR on the road this season, which is a 10 minute drive. They also play at Texas and at Arizona. Not a bad road schedule. They could only play one road game in nonconference last season due to the pandemic, that being at USC.

I missed Fullerton -thanks!

And yes UCSB and Bako are 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on traffic - mid week games, especially for UCSB, would be a long drive travel-time.
