It looks like New Mexico State has found a new much more competitive tournament for next season.

Both tournaments are ESPN run, right? ESPN probably just shifted them and found someone else for the other tournament. Much better tournament, kudos NMSU!
I wonder if NMSU and USU will meet? That would be awesome!

That would be awesome and a super tough game. This is a series I think we should be having on an annual basis. Or at least every other year. I think both fan bases would want it as the NMSU/USU semi-rivalry goes back quite a ways with some great games. Those Stew Moral teams were fun to watch. And the chastising we got from the holy choir boy USU fans was always fun too.

Morrill - I'm not sure about his moral status.07-coffee3

He’s known at Stew Moral in our circles because USU fans used to have a holier than thou attitude at the time. It was Stew vs flamboyant Reggie Theus at NMSU. And because all our players were “thugs” and their players were recruited straight out of heaven. I don’t have a chip on my shoulder about that at all.
Here's the official release from ESPN on the "fields" for the tournament including the one NMSU is in

BYU
Hawaii
Liberty
Northern Iowa
South Florida
Stanford
Vanderbilt
Wyoming.

That is a pretty good line up for Diamond Head. I wonder if NMSU moved by their request or they were told "you are moving".

From Aggie Alert:

The decision to not play in the Hawaii tournament apparently has to do with NM State's schedule that has the Aggies playing at Seattle on December 29 to start WAC play. The Hawaii tournament---with games Dec. 22-25 and a 9-hour flight (plus bus ride from ELP to LC)----is tiring and with the Aggies playing three out of four games on the road from Dec. 29 through Jan. 8, Coach Jans apparently did not want fatigue to be an issue and wants to get out of the WAC gate fast. The Myrtle Beach Invitational is Nov. 18-21.

That's a good plan, the way our conference season opens. Having so many new guys, it does make me apprehensive about that tourney, but trial by fire is a good way to test people out. In previous years I'd be more certain about where we stand though.

Has the WAC schedule been leaked yet?

You mean the one on this thread? It’s tentative and final decisions are being made at the WAC meetings but that’s pretty consistent with what we are seeing from NMSU regarding the scheduling

PS... post 8
Morgan State will receive $75k to play at Seattle. Of note, Portland is paying $65k two days later to host the Bears.

D1Docket
Nice quadruple header! We have seen a few of these triple and quadruple headers emerge from coast to coast which are giving equal exposure to mid-major and high major teams alike.

Both Stephen F Austin & Tarleton State head to Kansas...

Nice - some big names to headline and two local schools for attendance.

I will try to make this!

The headliner is the Gonzaga-TTech game no question, but all 4 should be competitive games. I am a little nervous that the USC-Ga Tech game might be one sided towards USC. Good line-up and a good long day of college basketball.
