Any time there is a coaching change the its not a direct promotion from within, you should expect most of the team will enter the portal. I think that will be more the norm than the exception. Especially since coaching changes have been an almost guarantee on a waiver exemption for a free transfer. As others have stated, they got an even better coach and their program is well funded. They are not going anywhere. They will be mid-pack at worst when all is said and done even in year 1
Coach Bollinger has started following 6’5 Tamenang Choh, a grad transfer from Brown. Choh, who is originally from Lowell, MA, entered the portal on Nov 19. Back on Jan 20 Jon Rothstein tweeted that Choh had been receiving interest from San Diego State, Seton Hall, South Florida, Loyola Chicago, Howard, Cal Baptist, Southern Illinois, Portland, and St. Bonaventure.

Yup. Going from Grant’s slow down, take 25 seconds off the shot clock, emphasize defense and extra passes, try to win with 60 game to Kelsey’s speed it up, find the best shot, try to score 90 to win game is a completely different animal.

Basically all the guys in the portal are not good Kelsey fits. All of Grant’s guys (or at least 90% of them) are more defensive fits.

Cam Copeland and Harvey, who are both more offensive oriented guys (can shoot the 3 with ease) look to be staying on.

That Bolon pick up is a really good one (even if it is only a year). He was a 3 time D2 All-American at one of the top D2 schools. This season he averaged 22 a game, not scoring below 12 in any game, averaged 8 rebounds, 45% from 3, and was nearly 90% from the FT line.

West Liberty isn’t the CAA, but he could easily do damage. They made the Elite 8 in D2, losing to eventual national champion NW Missouri State.
