Fake news

Ehh, I suspect it's a lot like Notre Dame. Probably 12-20 schools would list Notre Dame as one of their top 3 rivals, while Notre Dame may be entirely unaware of the rivalry.

SAme with schools like App State, who were FCS powers who used to play a lot of FCS schools in the south. Now that App State is FBS and having a moment in the sun, everyone's your rival.
Chattanooga
ETSU
Western Carolina
N.C. A&T

The hail mary longshot wish list.
And if only three came throw in West Florida as #4.
That’s what ASUN fans have their hope set on.
Lurking various message boards, I sense there is a softening of the fans from schools listed above hard line stance that those schools would never make that change.

Would any FBS school drop down to FCS to join the ASUN?

Would any schools drop down? Not likely

Several schools should drop down but won’t.

We are about a week away from this

Will the 5 ASun schools being playing with the Big South, half Big South/half WAC or will they announce a #6 so they can get ASun football going with an auto bid in 2021?

Signs so far seem to point to UCA, EKU, and JSU FB hanging out in the WAC for at least the 2021-22 academic year. UNA and KSU FB would stick around in the Big South for that year. Perhaps come 2022-23 there will be another FB school the A-Sun could add. I'm thinking if Belmont and Murray State were to leave for the MVC, then Murray FB could serve as the A-Sun's 6th.
Let's hope not

If that's in reference to Murray State joining the A-Sun as a FB affiliate to make 6, at least they've done better on the field than UNA. And beggars can't be choosers.
It's not shown the asun has become beggars. Now if they add Murray state for football it'd be a sure sign of desperation.
Surely schools wouldn't cut ties without a plan.

After all these years of fcs football msu is nominally better than tuna. Just give it a year and that will be rectified.

I mean... I'd say that's a little unfair to us at this point. 2021 will be our 4th FCS season. Looks like Murray last won the OVC in 2002, while we were in the D2 title game in 2016 and have 7 conference championships since Murray's last one.

No, we haven't proven anything yet at this level, but in football I'd say we have a lot more potential than Murray does.

That all being said, I'd love to have them IF their basketball comes along. But I'm guessing that idea is far-fetched.

My understanding (and this may all be from hearsay) is that the MVC wanted to add Murray and Belmont, and Murray was all ready to go, but Belmont rejected the invite because they like dominating their bus league. Since the MVC is sticking to their 50/50 public/private balance, they couldn't take one without the other. The point is: if the MVC wants you, you don't settle for the A-Sun.

Now, the departure of EKU and JSU could potentially destabilize the OVC enough to compel Belmont to take the MVC up on their offer. Murray goes with and needs a spot for its FB. Maybe the MVFC would be willing to take one for the team, but if the A-Sun needs a 6th FB member, then win/win for Murray FB and the A-Sun.
I wonder if someone who previously committed behind the scenes has backed out. One of the presidents said a 6th FB school would announce soon and there’s been nothing.

If there is a 6th team, it will be announced in Atl, I think the 23rd of February...

UNA would beat the breaks off Murray in football.

And the ASUN ain't begging.
Announcement on football schedules and partnerships occurring on the 23d.
Sounds to me like there is no #6 for this year.

But A-Sun football is gonna be awesome! Shouldn't schools be breaking down the doors to get in?
There’s a perfectly fine safety net in the Big South for those ASun football schools. I’m interested to see how that partnership works in practice.

Probably not. Will also discuss 2022 football. So I wonder if they have a 6th but not for this year?
This was my thought.
I could see how a school may need time to get things in order.
