Figueroa is a real baller; my favorite player on St. John's roster from the past two seasons. Kinda reminds me of a slightly more raw version of Aubrey Dawkins.

I personally want to see him go to UCLA but Houston would be getting an absolute gem if they could somehow snag him.

big time transfer came available...no real ties to any aac school. but would not be shocked to see memphis and ucf take a sswing
former 5star, one of floridas best guards..expected to try and use the same excuse as grimes to get eligibility..florida had 1 too many players come back,

If he wants that waiver, UCF is a great landing spot... I remember wanting this kid to come to UConn badly when we were recruiting him hard a few years ago under Ollie. Great player, skills of a point guard but the size to play either guard spot. Whoever gets him will be significantly improved

Obviously I’d love to see him come to UCF but I don’t think we have a legitimate chance.

Saw an article from an Indiana site saying he would be a good pickup for the Hoosiers. Immediately came here to say I thought he would be a good fit for Houston lol. Good luck if you guys go all in in him, I know you need the depth. Would obviously be a great add for Tulsa as well

I'm biased, but i expect Gilbert to outperform a large chunk of the players ranked ahead of him on that list. Too many low major to high major transfers that have historically underperformed compared to the hype coming in.
I think DeJulius is way under ranked as well. He played behind an all American his only two years at Michigan.

I can see that. Also somewhat biased.

50 is way too low. He's top 25 imo, if not better. He's going to surprise a lot of people next year
Gilbert is incredibly talented.

But will he stay healthy?

Will he butt heads with Marshall when things don't go his way?

He surely seems worth the gamble.

Who else was pursuing him?

He won’t butt heads with Marshall because he’s a high character kid and Hurley guided him there because he has a relationship with the coach. AG has a UConn degree and needed a change of scenery in the worst way so we’re all rooting for him at WSU.

That said -aside from his injuries he’s not effective as a point guard. At all. He’s a dog on defense but can’t run a team on offense, not a good shooter and can’t create his shot. He’s gonna compete his ass off on defense and be a great team guy though. He was so much better last year playing off the ball with Jalen Adams playing point but he’s way way too small to be a 2. UConn became a different and much better team when Gilbert moved to the bench this year.

so in a dream situation, there is is still a possibility of:

*PG: Andrew Nembhard (2 year starter at Florida/former 5star/ 6'5)
G: Lester Quinones - (former top 70 recruit/ aac all-freshman)
*G: Landers Nolley (acc all-freshman/ former top100/ touted transfer)
F: DJ Jeffries - (former top 50 recruit)
* C: Moussa Cissa (top 10 5star recruit- known as nations best shot blocker)

bench:
Boogie Ellis - (fromer top 30 recruit)
* Deandre Williams (6'9 stretch 4, 15pts 7rbs , 45% from 3, 31 PER)
- a ton of former 4star players (lomax, stokes, baugh, thomas)

would need nemhard and cisse to commit..then need 3 different ncaa waivers..but if it all passed that would be a hell of a roster

Unless the NCAA gives blanket waivers, I just don't see any of those guys getting one. Williams, maybe, the other 2 (assuming Nembhard commits), no.

Didn't Florida "run out of room" with him from him trying the draft? If so then like Grimes I would expect he would get a waiver, with free waivers coming likely next year anyway they won't want that black eye. Otherwise yes, I expect the NCAA to harken back to the old school days of "talk to the hand" for anything Memphis wants.
florida wasnt expecting scottie lewis to return, he did...they had 1 too many scholarship players. as forever stated he intends to use the same reason grimes got a waiver for him to get a waiver too

nolley who already redshirted, who is already a fringe draft prospect, wouldnt have transferred if he didnt have some reason he believed hewoulod get a waivers..he even withdrew from the draft early..

deanadre williams they dont just give waivers becuase you are old.. i dont know the reason for his waiver, cant think of one.. he is applying for a waiver so he must have some kind of reason

I'm not convinced the Transfer Waiver thing is a slam dunk for next year. If it was .. they would have just done it this year. This year is the prime year to force change. I wouldn't be surprised to see a standardized waiver process (coaching changes etc) with no exceptions rather than a free waiver.
Well Johnny Juzang going from UK to UCLA was already approved for immediate eligibility.
